Partial transcript from BTB:

Q: Talk about the opportunity you have here and how you’re viewing this.

McClain: "This is a great opportunity. You only get this many chances in the NFL. So the best thing I can do is take advantage of it, work my butt off and try to make this team and be the best I can be."

Q: Were you surprised by the outcome yesterday in court?

McClain: "Very. But we appealed it, so it’s still open so that’s all I’ll say about that."

Q: What was the decision to un-retire. Obviously, you’ve done that a couple of times. Why did you want to come back?

McClain: "I think I officially retired once. But I feel like if I hadn’t retired then … My life wasn’t going in the right path. Me being a young father of two, I had to sit down and realize I have things I need to do in order to be a better man for those two little boys. The best thing for me to do was to get away from football and work on my personal life. I told Mr. Newsome [Baltimore’s GM] when I felt like I had that clear I would come back."

"Unfortunately when I did come back [to Baltimore], everything wasn’t settled. At the end of the day, I still have to stay true to my word and true to my family. Those are my two boys. I said, 'Hey, I’m still not ready; my family’s still not in order. I still need to take care of that first.’ So I made the decision to go back home and get that in order. Just working [things] out."

I hope things work out for him and he reaches his massive potential HERE in Big D.

He answered every question with a since of pride and sincerity. I now know his guy will do great with the Cowboys. In fact, Sean Lee will be traded as a result if Sean is not moved to the outside. Who knows, maybe McLain can play outside. But nonetheless, McLain will be a keeper and will wear the Cowboys jersey for a long time. Quote me in three inch headlines.

McClain would be best at MLB, but he could play SLB. SLB though has the least impact of the 3 positions. Lee could play WLB or probably even SLB. Carter could probably play all 3 also- they just don't want to move him, want him getting comfortable with the one position.

Kid is so young we can take advantage of this and make him a pro bowler and turn his life around. Could be huge. Hope he lives up to his potential proclaimed from nick SabanSaban

We gotta slow down on this guy. I'm hoping he turns things around but he's been in camp one day.

I'm with you. I like his talent but I'm still guarded. But listening to Jerry, it seems like the MLB spot is there for McClain to win assuming he doesn't completely disappoint.

Gotta wonder where that leaves Durant. Does he slide back to starting SLB?

That's what's so tantalizing about McClain. He has such upside that all he needs to do is be motivated and the job is his.

This is a player that is on the right track. People make mistakes again and again, and you can learn from those mistakes. It seems that he is on his way to a better life and to play some football!

Not being pessimistic but for some reason I just don't think McClain stays due to his past. Also, and this won't be popular here, but I just don't see what everyone sees in Bruce Carter? I know he's pretty good, and is all we have, but he's not overly impressive to me. Carter seems to be viewed on the same level as Lee and he's nowhere close. Now, Sean Lee, the dude is a Beast, a fragile one, but an absolute incredible LB......

No Heinekens bro. It is my ability to understand people. Based on the way he answered the questions tells a lot about his mind set. Forget about the first day of practice. That doesn't mean anything to me. The answers he provided are sincere. Trust me- you will see a different McLain. I don't know why it is hard for people to accept the fact that things sometime line up and all the pieces somehow fit together.

Until a few weeks in when Lee becomes injured.

I love Lee to death but the poor guy is another player whose body just isn't going to hold up for him and we're not likely to ever see him play full seasons for the Cowboys.

It is for some on here...:D
If you watch the video of his interview, it's great, I was very impressed. Made me feel much better about how he will handle things and wnats to succeed.
I think he can be a big difference maker for this defense. It's early, we need to see it on the field. But i think he will be just fine.

Well- I'm not saying he's the best or anything like that. But he us damn good.... I just believe the kid has a new passion. Everybody needs motivation in something. I think he found his motivation. And again, to me, it was the way he answered the questions.

Well, that's my point about Lee and him possibly bring traded as a result of McLain. As good as Lee is- his body just may not hold up to the rigor. But Lee is a very special kid.
