Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee returns from concussion with a new helmet

IRVING
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee will play against the Miami Dolphins Sunday after missing last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion.

Lee suffered the concussion against the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 8. He was held out of the Buccaneers game as a precaution because it was his second concussion of the season.

Lee will wear a new helmet in hopes of protecting him against future head injuries.

“I feel great. I’m excited to get back on the field and play with the guys,” Lee said. “I haven’t had very many symptoms since after the concussion.”

Lee said he appreciates the stance league is taking with concussions and the concern for a player’s health. But he is not worried about this affecting him long term.

“It’s frustrating obviously because you want to be out there and want to play but it’s the right move to make, especially being that it’s my second concussion, just trying to protect me for the long term,” Lee said. “You still got to go hit and tackle the right way, with the right form. There are certain things you’re not going to be able to avoid. I think if you try to play a different way, it would lead to more injuries.

“There is obviously some risk, but I think it’s a safe game. I think if you play it the right way, you’re all right.”

"I haven't had very many symptoms since after the concussion"

that is a telling statement...so is IS having issues....and one other thing, how do you know? you DO remember that today is sunday, correct? that's a start....so, if the guy goes down (God forbid), will the defense IMMEDIATELY give up a TD drive to Miami?

love this guy and his passion

Sean Lee is incredibly valuable to the defense when he's available and extremely tough to do without whenever he's unable to play. It's surely no easy thing to overcome but I can't blame the team for not wanting to let him get away without exhausting every effort to make him successful. His value to the team is undeniable.

Let's just hope his durability takes a turn for the better for whatever remains of his career. Anyone who constantly plays with his intensity is bound to be more prone to harm than most. Here's to wishing him the best of good fortune from now on.

We need Lee as much as we need Romo. Crossing my fingers he can last the rest of the season
