I don't think Fisher actually knows anything so I wouldn't read too much into this. It would make 0 sense to keep Vaughan on the roster the whole season just to replace him the following year with another development guy.

This was lifted directly from an interview. It's not really a scoop. Nor should it be surprising.
If we're looking at QBs in this draft, it's going to be somebody relatively obscure, because the top QBs in this draft after the first ten picks all stink pretty bad and none of them are going to be available at value. We'll probably add a CFA or two there and then just shake the jar and let everybody not named 'Romo' fight it out, with Vaughan hopefully pushing Weeden and the CFAs hopefully pushing Vaughan.

It's not like Weeden has shown enough to make you think he could win a game if Romo goes down anyways. Might as well give Vaughn a shot. They obviously thought high enough of him to keep him on the roster last year. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Weeden doesn't make it out of camp.
