You gotta strike when the iron is hot. It was blazing last year for our Boys - injury-wise, chemistry-wise, super bowl location-wise....you couldn't ask for anything better. The Cowboys were the IT team from Week 1 to Week 17 last year, but somehow, someway we allowed the measly Falcons to take our spot in the Super Bowl.

I know it's been a few months now, but observing the last few days of free agency inaction and the ever-changing landscape of the NFCE just reminds me how unforgivable Garrett's performance was in that playoff game. I'm worried ten years from now we're going to look back on 2016 like we currently do 2007.

Also, Tom Brady and New England had a transition year cutting several pro-bowl level pass rushers/defenders in Chandler Jones and the Cleveland LB.
They are reloading this year...
We were unwilling (understandably) to trade a 1st for Richardson

We're the worst team in the division because we signed the worst receiver so far. Smh Games are won at that position now?!

Giants still have a 36 year old QB, a terrible OL, and no running game(may improve in draft). They took the same team in to 2017 and they wouldn't win more than 7 games.

Commanders sign Pryor and now they're elite? Please

Can Pryor make plays in meaningful situations? They lost 2 receivers from an explosive offense, I think they took a step back with the Pryor signing. Their defense is worse than ours and the QB is a 9 wins at best QB.

You guys are crazy.

We have 2 rookies who will be better next year. Dak will be a top 3 MVP candidate. You still have a great OL. The DL will still play its heart out. Irving can be a 10 sack guy. And there is still a draft. Worst case scenario... 10 wins

No other team in this division has 10 win potential. And that's our low end!

We're not gonna be is good because the QB room lost talent? Knee slappin' funny. The only QB in the room that matters is the starter. The other guys are useless.

And it all came down to the last play and 2 conservative coaches. Rod backs everyone off of Rodgers who was getting eaten up by blitzing safties and corners and Garrett let it happen.
 
Are we the only NFC East team that has to play the AFC and NFC West teams?

I know we play GB and Atl and the others don't, but I keep reading about this tougher schedule and how we won't be as good.

Let me get this straight: The tougher schedule is sure to doom our season but the sorry *** Giants and Commanders will be just fine? The second year QB and the bumbling head coach will be just fine because they signed a couple of wide receivers?

if you were a "rah rah " fan, great year, you got to hi five your friend, talk smack, act like you did something. fine, a great year, if you are a fan of the team, well we got stopped right were we deserved too. For most, they like the mediocrity, just enough to keep them involved, not enough to where they are going to get angry. Keeps them middle of the pack. It just depends on where you put yourself.
 
I think what zordon is saying is that with a better HC the team we had last year was good enough to get to and win the SB.
I agree that with JG and staff, they would not have beat Atlanta, but NE was beatable. No Gronk, and mainly edelman as the go to guy
they were beatable, Atlanta just screwed up.
It was a good opportunity, and they had a good enough team, but were one and done.
On that pass to cook, Marinelli played to not lose, bend dont break, but it broke easily, so it isnt just the players they had on defense.
 
realistically, the only team to stop this team was the Cowboys. The coaches should have taken some accountablity and been looked at real hard this off season.
 
Lol defenses win championships.... We didnt have an elite one in a decade offense to counter our below average defense

I'm not buying that. The defense was good enough to get us the #1 seed. The thing that changed in the GB game was the coaching. Everyone knew we would have to win that game in a shootout. The players were prepared to but the coaches weren't.

We have talent on that side of the ball. We just need one 'war daddy'(or 2 and a db or 2..One might be Irving!) up front to lift up the group.

The franchises with quality management typically employ a strategy that does not target a specific year. Rather, they target a specific interval of years to get to the playoff. From there, they do what they can to capitalize on the opportunity.

Most GM's realize that only 50% of the season's best team actually win the Super Bowl. There is always the variable of luck, some good some bad.

I once did a statistical analysis that ranked a team's strength and compared it to opponents that year as well as an historical rank.

There were great teams that were denied championships, most notably some Ram and Viking teams of the 70's.

Hiwever, the strongest team in terms of defensive, offensive, win-loss, and point differential that did not win a Super Bowl was the undefeated Patriot team until they lost the big game.. The strongest team in NFL history to not make the playoffs was the Patriot team quarterbacked by Cassel when Brady was out a whole year.

Incidentally, the Cowboys have a great history of beating the team that ranked highest during a season. Staubach's hail Mary took down the best Viking team, statistically, in their franchise history.

So These are examples of how the best team can be debied through simple bad luck. Therefore, it is more practical to build a team with long term.consequemces, ine that gives them an opportinity to put it all togethet for several years, thus increasing the probability of at least one Super Bowl year.

The worst thing a team can do is make a move based on the idea that this player makes it a slam dunk. Some teams get away with it, like the Cowboys getting Sanders ot Broncos getting Manning. Some have negative repurcussions for years. Examples would be the Vikings trade for Herschel and the Cowboy trade for Galloway.

They sacrificed their future for a win now philosophy......but didn't win.
