Cowboys may be eyeing Joe Milton

One of the stronger arms anyone will ever see.
But is there a qualified enough QB whisperer/developer on staff to coach up all the rest of the areas he lacks in as a QB?

Because other than arm strength, he needs a LOT of coaching up with the rest of his game.

I mean a LOT.

jmo
That's why his stock is up. He showed the ability to improve his game in the preseason and that regular-season game. Doesn't mean he won't return to the bad habits that made him a sixth-round choice, but teams look for the kind of improvement he showed.

Uhhh, NO.

An ESPN article mentioned the Cowboys as "a possible fit" as New England looks to trade Milton.

At no point has anyone even remotely associated with the Cowboys ever hinted they have interest in Milton. I guess reporting Dallas as a possible fit now means they are interested, at least in today's click-bait infatuated media.

Milton completed less than 35 percent of his passes last preseason. He carved up Buffalo's backups in a game they weren't even trying to win in his only game action last season.

The Cowboys would be better off re-signing Lance than giving up a pick for Milton.

No way I’d use a 3rd

He's better than Lance.
He's also older (25) and had more experience coming out of college: 21 starts, 43 games played and 540 passes. Lance, 24 now, started 17 games in college, played in 19 total and attempted 318 passes.

Truth be told, Lance should have been taken about as late in the draft as Milton was. He just didn't have the experience to justify the first-round pick.

Except he went 22 out of 29 and won his 1st start.
The Bills were resting the starters since it was the last game of the year and they were already locked into their playoff spot. He was playing against their backups including Mitch Trubisky as the Bill's QB. It may as well have been a preseason start, in fact, it basically was a preseason start except New England was playing their starters. Did you purposefully leave that detail out or did it not register with you? Come on man.

That being said he is better than Lance (IMHO).

You left out that the Patriots were 3 and 13 going into that game.

Not to mention the coaching and draft ramification of this game. A completely incompetent management of the situation; something I would not try to extrapolate too much from.

No thanks, he is basically Trey Lance.
Sort of a little bit bigger version of Trey Lance, Miltons bult more like Cam, lance bit more like LJ.... And I believe one of those types are coming here so be prepared.. Nothing wrong with developing these guys you know it took a while for Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and Gino Smith to come along so you never know when you hit on one I know people are down on Lance but you never know when the light comes on now he's got his legs and a little bit of his arm.. But I'm with you I don't wanna be giving up draft picks for something we could get in free agency or the draft..

Trade for a project guy on a 6 rd contract or resign a project guy who made 5 million

Give me the 6 rd contract, as long as the compensation isn’t a pie in the sky 3rd.

No to a 3rd round pick.

Joe Milton is a fantastic backup. Guy has starter potential IMO. This would be a great move. Too bad we don't have a 4th because I'm sure our 4th would get him. Was listening to some host on NFL radio absolutely gush about him saying he was more ready than both of the top 2 QBs coming out in the draft this year. I call total BS on that personally, but the point was made so I'm passing along. It was from a guy who had been in Pats camp and was wowed by him and said he has the arm and the athletic ability to possibly develop into something A LOT more than most people are assuming. I say do it...but not for a 3rd. I'd give 2 5th rounders for him in a second though. And I know it was week 17 but he was really good when given a chance. We won't do it though because we only go back to our old draft cards and our cards probably have him as a 7th.
