Cowboys may be eyeing Joe Milton

Joe Milton is a fantastic backup. Guy has starter potential IMO. This would be a great move. Too bad we don't have a 4th because I'm sure our 4th would get him. Was listening to some host on NFL radio absolutely gush about him saying he was more ready than both of the top 2 QBs coming out in the draft this year. I call total BS on that personally, but the point was made so I'm passing along. It was from a guy who had been in Pats camp and was wowed by him and said he has the arm and the athletic ability to possibly develop into something A LOT more than most people are assuming. I say do it...but not for a 3rd. I'd give 2 5th rounders for him in a second though. And I know it was week 17 but he was really good when given a chance. We won't do it though because we only go back to our old draft cards and our cards probably have him as a 7th.
I think one 5th is ok but still I would take it as a throw away, just like the two 4ths they threw away for Mingo and Lance.

3rd round pick? No sir...just re-sign Trey or take a late round QB.
I agree. Resign Lance and draft a late rounder. Why trade for another rocket arm with poor QB skills when one is out there for free.

I’m really curious what happened last season to cause Trey not be resigned. Either he sucks beyond redemption (which is quite possible) or he did something, or didn’t do something, at practice. I wonder about his work ethic or attitude. It’s surprising that given what we gave up for him we would just let him go, especially with him on the streets right now.

Patriots are dreaming if they think they will get a 3rd for Milton.
I wouldn’t give more than a fifth to be honest. He’s not worth a 3rd abd we don’t have a 4th, but we have multiple 5th so that’s really the only option. I don’t know much about him to be honest but little risk with a 5th if he has some talent to work with

Watch him on YouTube.
So I did YouTube him. Yeah he looks impressive. I like him a lot too. I’d go 5th round pick, maybe a 4th. 3rd is too high. But I’d be pretty happy if he was on the team. He’s got a cannon for an arm and athletic ability.

Anyone that thinks this would be a good move did not watch him in college. I'm a Vol fan and this guy was horrible at Tennessee. Very inaccurate. Not a great runner. Makes metal mistake after mental mistake. A 7th round pick would be too much to give for Milton. We've seen his ceiling already. He'll never repeat the performance he had against Buffalo.

See 22 out of 29. Explain that.

How? They get a 2nd year qb with experience on a rookie contract with strong arm and is athletic and has confidence.
The list of QBs drafted that late who have amounted to anything in the post season is miniscule. Jerry's already wasted 3 decades on QBs drafted outside of the first 2 rounds.

Is there a qb in round 3 this year that is better than Milton? 4th would be a homerun but we don’t have a 4th.

The Bills rested their starters. It was basically a Preseason game

Its still a good performance. But it needs to be taken in context
22 out of 29 in an NFL game is good any way you shake it. Take in to context how bad a 3 and 13 Patriot team is.

BB says Trey was offered an extension during the season, but chose to enter FA...possible it was a honest offer.

If Milton is so great why don't the Patriots want him to backup Drake Maye?

And why would any team trade for him when they could just draft a QB whenever they want in April on their own terms? It's not like Milton is some established commodity that everyone knows what they are getting with him.

The Bills weren't even trying to win that game. Yes Milton carved them up in what was basically a preseason game. It was Milton, the Patriots starters, and Buffalo's backups out there.

We've seen Will Grier have some great preseason games too. And in the actual preseason, Milton completed something like 35 percent of his passes. That's when it was an even field, backups vs. backups. And he stunk.

Gotcha, I didn’t know that. Now I’m more surprised that Trey hasn’t accepted that offer since the offers aren’t coming in.

Honestly right now, if I could have my way, I would trade a 5 and maybe a 4th for this Milton kid and sign Trey to be a 3rd string minimum wage guy. Realistically speaking, love him or hate him, if Dak misses any significant time due to injury the season is basically over. I’d rather play some young pups with potential at the QB position than have a washed up veteran barely keeping us afloat and screwing up the draft.

If Dak goes down I want to be preparing for the future. So Milton, or someone like Milton is my preferred backup and then have a guy being groomed as 3rd string. Will Grier doesn’t excite me as a project QB.
