Cowboys may have a draft pick steal in Dorance Armstrong

Dorance and Shultz are my favorite picks from our draft class. Why? Because we didn't just scout their performance we scouted the situation they were put in which may have had an impact on how they performed. For example Dorance changed defenses his last year in college and rather than complain that he was not getting any attempts the rush the QB he played the position the way the scheme dictated him to play it. It took more than film study to figure this out and our organization should pat themselves on the back for it. The same can be said for Shultz. He played in a extremely run first offense so he didn't get many opportunities to catch passes. However watching tape on the guy in the passing game you find out that he has sure hands and is really good route runner. And Shultz knowing he was a good route runner and had sure hands he just did his job as a blocker and did it well.

With all of that said we will see how it plays out. I believe Shultz has a chance to win the starting role. I believe Dorance will be a key contributer on obvious passing downs very early season.

Kansas sucks at football, just pitiful. That being said, they did get Charles Strong fired....you will be hard pressed to name a single player on that team, even Big 12 fans will have difficulty. However, one player I did know, and was able to name, was Armstrong. Whenever I watched a game that included that pitiful team, his jersey was all over the place. I couldn't believe a player that good would play for such a sucky team, and by choice. So yes, I think we got ourselves a quality football player. He will never be the flashiest athlete like Deforest Buckner, but he will show heart, grit, determination, technique, and leadership out on the field. Do not be surprised if he soon becomes one of the new leaders in the locker room.

I agree with all of that, except I think he's a much better athlete than most people seem to. He was regarded as a first-round prospect after his junior season, had some injuries and was asked to stuff the run as a senior and then for whatever reason showed up big and slow at the combine. So he's had some bad luck and made some bad choices. But the guy can play and he is much more twitchy and explosive than his underwear numbers indicate. If he's healthy and in shape I think he could well be this year's fourth-round phenom.

Wilson was my favorite but I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down. I think Armstrong and Shultz both will be heavy contributors this season and McClay and his boys know it.

I hope they are right, and he turns out great. But I need to see it on the field in the NFL.

Remember the Ryan Russell pick...then now waiting on the Charles Tapper pick...

I agree. I hate drafting “potential”. I would have rather drafted Kyzir White at this spot and solidified the SS position. I hope Armstrong pans out but are we ever going to solve the safety issue?

He will get lost on the bench while they try over and over again to show us that Taco was a great pick.

Let’s see. We have D-Law and Irving and Taco. If he can do better than ok his rookie year than I will be impressed.
Be prepared to be impressed. Non-stop motor. This kid is going to be a player.

great numbers as a junior. was dealing with an injury and change in defensive philosophy in his senior year. been reading that is why his senior year numbers were way off from his junior year stats.

The Cowboys like to get the "coming off an off year" players. Collins was one of those. Williams was too.

I was disgruntled with the pick during the draft, as I had positions I wanted more and hadn't looked into him, but the more I hear about Armstrong, the better he sounds. Good pick. That he wasn't at a proper weight for his pro day is another good sign.

Looks like the scouts do their homework on players more than other teams, and we get good value out of it.

LVE has some massive calves, a thick neck and broad shoulders, but man he has some skinny arms.

Shultz is small.

Scarborough has been lying on his birth certificate and is really 28.

Connor Williams is the Tyron Smith of guards.

.
its ridiculous that the guy could put on 10-15 more lbs of muscle (and he will over time) and be a 265lbs inside linebacker that can run
