Cowboys need to draft a RB - they're easy to find

I think we might have a guy in Smith already. He may just need more time in the Offense. IDK yet.

Either way, the needs in this offense are speed and quickness at WR, a real deep threat. We have needed that for years and have never addressed it. We need to get a solid Swing Tackle who can play Right or Left, legit. You can try and use Jags at Guard or Center but you can't do that at Swing Tackle. Understand how hard it is to Find a RT or LT who can start for you. Then think about how hard it actually is to find one guy who can play either position at a level that will not disrupt your entire Offense when that guy has to steo\p in and play or worse yet, get your QB killed.

We need to figure out what we have at TE. I think we have some guys there but do we have the guy that will be a solid starter for us? I don't know that.

Those are the positions we need to address on O, IMO.

I don't know about that. I mean, I don't believe we need another All Pro as a back up. I believe we need a guy who can fit the Offense, can pick up the Blitz and can produce while the starter is out. I think that there is a chance that Smith might be that guy.

TB isn' the only position on the field. QB and defense contributes to winning SB also. I'l take elite over plug and play any day regardless of round. If you don't think it matters just look at your Dallas Cowboys since Zeke's been out.

The fact this team falls apart because they are lacking a really good TB is more an indictment of the coaching staff and their flaws than it is support that you must use a 1st round pick to get a good TB.

I suspect there are a few TBs in the league who would also thrive behind our OL. Take Jordan Howard, for example, who is running behind a pretty blah Bears OL with little QB play next to him and he's going to eclipse 1000 yards again this year. He was a mid round pick.

I understand that, that is your point. I am simply saying that, that is not a given and that I do not necessarily agree with that. All of this is really beside the point because it's really about how the team views the player or the position.

11/4/17: Penny has run well as a senior, using his size to roll over a lot of weak opponents. He is averaging 6.5 yards per carry for 1,368 yards with 12 touchdowns, plus has 17 receptions for 136 yards and two scores. As a junior, Penny averaged 7.4 yards per carry for 1,005 yards with 11 touchdowns. He made 15 catches for 224 yards and three scores that season as well.

For the NFL, Penny is a one-cut downhill runner. He has a nice build, but runs upright and could stand to improve his knee bend to run behind his pads. Penny may not have special speed or power in order to be a starter in the NFL. He could still be a rotational backup, but he will need to improve his pass protection

Look at speed type RBs in the mid rounds even if he has size limitations. Look for one that is also a good receiver.

The Cowboys are severly lacking speed on offense. Zeke is the only big play threat.

I want a speed freak that can play RB and slot WR on occasion.

I like the RB Love.

The catch below would be 5 to 10 yards with Beasley but a possible TD with love like it was for him in college.

A lot could depend on what we do in FA. If this front office goes brain dead on us again and goes and signs a bunch of Nolan Carroll schmucks, I think you'd really hate to give up a Top 3 round pick on a TB. You are going to need them for key holes - LB, DT, S, etc.

When the team completely fails to address needs at positions in FA, you often are hard pressed to go BPA early in the draft.

He will but with Rod Smith emerging I think we’ll fall back on wanting a running back so early. He’s nice though

Rod Smith had a nice game. I dunno if that counts as "emerging". I am pretty confident in saying that Michel is about 3x as talented as Rod Smith, though.

But anyways, i don't think he'll be available in 3 or 4, which is where I would want to take a back who can catch passes out of the backfield. So its really just wishful thinking. Our first 3 picks should be defense and a WR.
