Cowboys need to take a page from the Lakers

If the Lakers hired a coach as unqualified as Wade Phillips, he would've been fired pretty early in the process.

Laker/Cowboy fan. Lakers are in win now mode. As for Cowboys, they forgot what winning was all about for some time. I'm in high draft mode now.

Doing that got us in the spot we are in now. ( see: Wade Phillips )

Actually, hiring unqualified coaches like Wade and now Jason is what got the team in the spot they are in now.

The whole NBA is a churn. Nba has the luxury tax as well. Completely different ballgame.

5 positions with a 8-10 man rotation.

Different worlds bud. I understand what you're getting at though.

I don't get why people think that "structure models" for other sports can just plug-n-play for NFL football...

He was qualified in tying the most wins in a season & a Playoff win. Not too shabby for a guy who had no business being head coach.

My original point was Wade eventually lost the team & we went on a losing streak ( much like the lakers ) early in the season & got the boot & another guy ( who has much less of a Head Coaching history ) took over & here we are.

The Lakers put a mismatch of players together and threw the coach under the bus. Did their coach suck? Yes. But they probably could have found better pieces to fit his puzzle, rather than competing in this arms race for superstars that the NBA has devolved to.

I don't think the Lakers are a good model for what the Cowboys should do. Although they've won far more recently, they're in desperation mode

Problem is, what "qualified" coach wants to work for Jerry? People throw out names like Cowher, Fisher, Payton, etc., and say things like "they have a good relationship", but that's a lot different than actually wanting to work for the man.

No, what the cowboys need to do is take a page from the Spurs and get a GM and the right kind of coach. Then the trickle down effect will start to take shape, I'm a die hard fan of both teams but watching the differences in the 2 organizations is mind blowing

this is the same thing i thinking. jones is a great man to talk to and know but no way is anyone who is proven coach in the nfl will let this man tell them how to coach a football team.

Philly Phil is coming back! We dusted the high chair off and shined it up. Now it is time for the REAL NBA season to begin. I'm so excited that I dropped the cash on League Pass last night. HALLELUJAH...

I just don't see how Garrett is still employed if we somehow lose tomorrow. I say somehow because as many times as I close my eyes and picture us losing at the Linc tomorrow I can't do it.

We have too many advantages on both sides of the ball

There are three phases to game. You know, as in "ALL THREE PHASES."

Receivers-Cowboys
Secondary-Cowboys

Cowboys 31
Eagles 10

The Lakers are actually turning it to the Cowboys. Yea, year by year they'll fail to win a ship, and all they'll have to reflect on is what they did back in the day. But hey, atleast their fans have gotten to experience championships in their lifetimes
