My shorts-and-shirts impressions of Ezekiel Elliott - Jon Machota, Dallas Morning News

The key to writing a good news posts is establishing the run. It wouldn't be Monday, if we didn't start the week of with some Zeke love.

Question: I know it's shorts and no pads, but what are your impressions so far of Ezekiel Elliott?

Jon Machota: He definitely looks the part. He looks good in individual drills. But there's really not much you can get from the team period until the pads come on. Defenders aren't allowed to have much contact so it's difficult to really know how effective some of these runs would be on Sunday. He seems to be on the same page with Romo during the pre-snap part of team drills. Tony isn't having to tell Zeke where to go or anything like that. But it's going to be tough to get a real assessment of Zeke before the pads come on and he's facing Sean Lee coming downhill at him.

Lance Dunbar doesn't have Lance Dunbar potential

I'm pretty sure 'Lance Dunbar potential' was nothing more than Risen Star pretending there was a groundswell for Lance Dunbar in the first place. Say it often enough, in threads like this one, and people think he's addressing an actual debate, but it's not like anybody ever went to bat for Lance Dunbar except to acknowledge that he was a capable rotational player in that RB group. Which he was. You could do the same thing with any bottom-roster player and look all edgy yourself if you care to.

He has Darius Jackson potential, boys. See?

The most difficult part of Zeke's transfer into the NFL won't be the speed of the game if you ask me, but how quickly he picks up checks and blocking changes at the LOS called out by Romo. From what I've read and heard he's doing very well in that department. Of course, OTAs and even mini and training camp are one thing, but when its for real, we'll how well he's progressed.
