I love that there's a giant Carlsberg Beer logo in the middle of that field. God I love the UK..........

I agree. Great city with a lot of history and culture like no English speaking city. Only thing is that it gets really cold sometimes.

Eh, I was living in Canada up through August of this year. Last february I went from Toronto to London. I'll take London's cold over Toronto's.

I've heard it's insanely expensive. But Carlsberg is delicious.

Went there many years ago before they were using Euro. Im wondering if their on the Euro or the British Pound?

Its not that England is expensive. Its because of the devaluation of the dollar. The dollar doesn't go a long ways these days.

Yes, it's still the British pound (which is why it's even worse than countries using the euro, which isn't a great exchange either). And yes, it's because the dollar is relatively weak. It still doesn't make me feel better having to consistently pay like $15 for a beer. Copenhagen was awesome but similar from that standpoint. It does take away from some of the enjoyment when you're getting gouged like that every minute. And I'm not stingy by any stretch of the imagination. When I go on vacation, I go on vacation.

Gotcha. Yes $15 for beer is too much. Especially in Europe were beer is a necessity rather than just a commodity. I still feel they should have gone the euro route but thats them.

I live in the most expensive state in the US so I know how you feel about being gouged as a tourist.

Yeah, NYC actually is much colder in winter... brrrrrrr...... And the cold in UK is... weirdly, well, I keep saying creamy. I have no idea how to describe it.

You can go places for decent priced beer still. Just have to know where to go. I would spend about 2.5 or 3 pounds - so that's give or take 5/6 bucks. Somewhere touristy is going to be way more, of course. It's weird b/c some stuff is super expensive - like electronics etc. But other things (bathroom/grooming goods, groceries) are about the same price. Again, if you go to the right places it's about the same. Rent, however, is INSANE. You guys are making me FIEND! I get to back in July :)

I know what you mean. I walked from Soho to a hotel across from the tower in February, I felt the same thing.

Good to know, maybe not as bad as I had pictured. I would love to visit London someday. Been a lot of places but not there yet.

I didn't notice a difference in beer prices because I had been paying that in Canada. I spoke to some people who lived there (I work in insurance so met with a lot of people @ Lloyds). The rent. Oh god, the cost to live int eh city. NOPE.
