Cowboys NFL's Most Effective Running Behind RG, Davis

The Cowboys were the NFL's most effective team running off right guard in 2008.

This is really saying something for RG Leonard "Bigg" Davis because Dallas had only the 21st-overall ranked rushing offense. They should've ran Marion Barber, Tashard Choice, and Felix Jones behind Davis more often.

Too bad we were 20th in rushing attempts behind the right guard.

I wonder how Davis graded out against the pass. I saw him get beaten more this year than last in passing plays. He forgets to move his feet at times. He was still a very solid guy overall.

Hopefully we keep that in mind for next year and build this high powered offense around a ground and pound running game.

But...but...we were trying to achieve balance.

Why not put Davis on the left side so Adams and Davis are on the same side of the line? I think running left behind those two would be pretty effective.

I do like Bigg, but I think we need to take a hard honest look at this entire OLine and start drafting/Free agent pickup to start pushing some of those starters either off the starting lineup, off the team, or to get better.

I am of the opinion that the injury to Flo is something more serious than an infection which Wade told us about. I feel good about our OL with Flo healthy and Kosier back in the saddle we need to make sure we have a quality backup and I am not sure how much longer Gurode can defy the odds of injury. Lets concentrate on Safety imagine what we would we have done if we had Ed Reed? Or even Brian Dawkins.

What?! Running behind a massive 360 lbs linemen can be successful? NO WAI!

On 4th and inches, where inches gives you a chance to keep the ball and get Folk on the field, the FB gets the ball and runs into a stalemate to the right of Gurode.

To his right is Davis and Columbo, they have a great push. Run behind them, and you make it.

Give it to the best player (Choice/the RB) and run behind the money, Davis.

You're hired!!!
This is not in hindsight, but I often wondered why they didn't run to Bigg's side more often myself....it's really not rocket science.

I don't. This bunch made mental error after mental error this year. Our protection schemes seemed non-existent, and everyone on this board will admit they hold their breath just a little bit every time Gurode does one of his fluttering shotgun snaps at exactly 1 on the play clock.

I'd hire Shanny for no other reason this year than to start the process of over-turning this band of knuckleheads.

(And yes, thank the good Lord the internet is anonymous as I insult the 300lbers)
