2:51:06 pm Look for the Cowboys to try and run the football against an Atlanta smaller front seven. The Falcons rank 27th on defense in the NFL in yards allowed per rush at 4.69. The Cowboys are tied with the Saints with 24 rushes of 10 yards or better.
2:39:47 pm Of the teams in the NFC South - Tampa Bay, Carolina, New Orelans and Atlanta - the Cowboys have the most wins versus the Falcons with 15.
2:37:20 pm Since 1990, the Cowboys hold an impressive 15-5 record in games foillowing a bye. The Cowboys have played seven home games after a bye and have a record of 6-1.
2:34:55 pm The Cowboys join the Falcons and Broncos as the only teams that have yet to allow a touchdown on defense in the third quarter in 2009.
1:38:40 pm It looks like that Cowboys RB Felix Jones will play the Atlanta game with a knee brace to protect his injured knee. Jones said he has never worn a brace at any point of his football career.
1:35:55 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips told the media today that he really has only one injury concern going into the Falcons game this week and that is the health of WR Roy Williams (ribs) . "He has practiced this week but he could or could not play this week. He still has some pain."

Hard to believe they've been having byes for 20 years. Now if the NFL would get their head out of their arse and have them in the middle of the season.

Are you advocating all teams take the same week off say first week of November? It would run havoc with the scheduling based on the number of games in the season. Same thing if you scatter teams bye weeks throughout
i.e., November. If you spread the byes during the middle of the season it would affect either the whole month or spill over into the next month and you would really kill the season or render it anti-climatic such as November into December.

From September to December is the regular season. January is for post season. So you only have 3 short months that is why the bye commences as early as 3-4 weeks into the season.

It's not baseball with an All Star break. You can pull off concentrating team byes in a longer season. Believe me the NFL doesn't have its head up its arse regarding the scheduling.

Nobody should have a bye after the 3rd week of the season. Period.

Glad that I'm not the only person who has said the same thing for many years.

At least it seems like it was a productive bye week, everybody in the NFC East lost and we had a good practice. Now a win will make it as good as it gets.

32 teams.....have 4 bye weeks with 8 teams in each bye. You lose 4 games. Make it so that 1 team in each division has the bye. Also, during those bye weeks, schedule numerous divisional games, as to keep more fan interest.

i also wish the league would move opening week back to Labor Day weekend....like it was prior to 9/11. This way the season ends a week sooner, and we get the SB in January, not February.
