6:19:25 pm The Bucs have two TE's who can create problems for the defense in Kellen Winslow and Jerramy Stevens. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips feels very confident that S Gerald Sensabaugh will be up to the task in coverage.
6:12:30 pm There are always a great deal of concerns on opening day in the NFL but maybe the biggest concern for Cowboys coach Wade Phillips is Tampa's Pro Bowl returner RB Clifton Smith. According to Phillips, Smith will test his squad early.
6:08:38 pm Cowboys WR Miles Austin missed practice Monday but was able to go today with his hamstring problem. Coach Wade Phillips said that Austin looked good and should be ready for the Tampa game.
6:06:23 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips on the comments of former star running back Emmitt Smith: "I do take it to heart when it's one of ours."
6:03:56 pm "I don’t care. Emmitt is a great back, hall of fame back, super bowl back, all-of-the-above back, a diamond-among-trash back, so it’s all good." Cowboys WR Roy Williams on Emmitt Smith's comment that the Cowboys will finish with a 7-9 record in 2009.
4:29:16 pm Tampa Bay starting CB Aquib Talib is a native of Richardson, Texas but when it came time for the 2008 NFL Draft, Talib wasn't even on the Cowboys draft board. Some serious character questions at Kansas scarred the Cowboys front office away.
4:27:58 pm A match up to watch in the Dallas-Tampa contest will be the battle between Cowboys OT Flozell Adams and Bucs DE Gaines Adams. Flozell struggled with Gaines quickness and strength in 2008.
3:09:02 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips broke out all his old heavy metal records for practice today. Phillips has his squad working in the noise in preparation for its trip to Tampa.
2:44:49 pm The Cowboys are back on the practice field after an off day Tuesday. LB Curtis Johnson and QB Stephen McGee are the only players not practicing.

Roy Williams is on a slippery slope... Emmit has a ton of friends in the media, Roy cant win this fight!

I wonder if Wade was going anywhere with this cuz I remember Smith saying this when he was released..

Wasn't Wade who said it, it was Roy Williams.. and that was the whole point behind him saying it.

Roy has always been a Dallas fan, that much is clear.

Edit: Whoops, I'm late. That's what I get for leaving the page open and walking away.

I thought it was pretty funny. And Roy can win, as another poster said, by producing. Emmitt's comments are another attempt by a former Cowboy to stay current. Another "me too" type of comment.

Emmitt loses every fight every time he opens his stupid mouth. Even if all heck breaks loose and this team only manages 7 wins, Emmitt shouldn't be needlessly trashing our players,,, especially ones that have professed their admiration for Emmitt and this franchise,,, that was classless and stupid.

Emmitt was a great cowboy --He was ---As much as people wish to think they still have influence -they started forgetting him the minute he was out the door.
He doesn't carry any more clout then any other reporter

So the media can treat Roy a lot worse then they already have?

Highlighted for those who still don't believe.

Sure he can, he can go out and show people that he is a top flight NFL WR. If he does that his critics will not have a leg to stand on. Hope you like sitting. :laugh2:

I loved Emmitt as a Cowboy and watching him play. Now I just think he's a tool. A Leopard can't change his stripes Emmitt.

Like all the good folks at ESPN?:lmao: Are were you referring to the Nation Pork Board?

Don't you guys get it? This is his right of passage for gaining favor with the brass at :espn:. Bashing the Cowboys = ESPN acceptance and credibility.

not sure what Roy said wrong, to me it sounded like he was giving respect to emmitt.

Using emmitts own words as an insult wrapped in the packaging of a compliment was brilliant. If he dosent win the war he certainly at least won a battle.

Smith has not been around this team any more than the average Giants fan has....in other words, he has no real inside knowledge whatsoever compared to some of the other ex-players.

He has a right to voice his opinion, but he is relating his experiences to one of the best all-time teams--which is pretty unrealistic. With free agency and the cap, you can't come close to assembling a team like that now.

He also has slecetive memory on how terrible the teams were in Troy's early years. Tony has started two full seasons, so let's let him grow some more.
I also do recall that when Jimmy went somewhere else where he did not have a pro-Bowler at seemingly every position, he did not win any more titles. That's not to say I am not a big Jimmy fan.
