Did anyone else hear this?? This evening on my way home from work, on the radio they said that Gil Brandt (NFL on Sirius) had confirmed that we offered our 22nd pick straight up to the Chargers for M. Turner, and they turned it down.

I looked around and didn't see it posted on here. Just thought I would pass along.

Good for us, if true.

I believe Gil is having a senior moment.

We might have discussed it prior to the draft and had contingencies attached. In other words, we will see, don't call us, we will call you if the worst happens. I strongly doubt we called the Chargers at any time while on the clock and tried to peddle our choice. We had bigger fish to fry.

I have my doubts about this on 2 counts.

1. I doubt we made such an offer.

AND

2. I doubt San Diego is stupid enough to turn that down if we did.

Did you actually hear Gil say that or is it being reported Gil said that somebody said that Dallas said that?

It wasn't from Gil...it was during the 4 o'clock hour - they came on while discussing the fact that Turner wouldn't be traded, and they said that Gil had confirmed that Dallas offered the 22nd pick and it was turned down.

I searched for awhile to try to have some type of link, but never found one. I did see where we had offered to swap our 1st and give them our 3rd this year, but nothing about straight up for him.

I was just hoping someone else heard this??

Umm, no chance in hell.

Not to change the subject but....I know what you mean by "julius breaking ankles", but I always think of him injuring himself when I see that link title. I love that gif, by the way. After that game, I really thought maybe we had a great one in JuJo, then the Seattle game made me a believer. It could still come to pass.

Who will ever know the truth? Don't matter, didn't happen and i doubt if you'll hear Jerry admit it even if it were true.

Noway, no shape, no how. We were not interested. Tennessee and Buffalo were.

Jerry Jones could have given up the first to take Turner and gladly spent his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks to move back up. Man am I glad that this trade didn't happen. Don't forget, he gave up a high 2nd, a 3rd, and 4th round pick to move to the 26th pick.

I heard him say it. He specifically said Dallas with the #22 pick, I don't buy it though.

I'm not buying it for a minute.

Why all this love for a RB who has done nothing in the NFL anyway?

People reacted the same way when Troy Hambrick was Emmitt's backup. He had a couple of big runs which elevated his average per carry and everyone was wanting him to be the starter. Well, we all know how that worked out don't we.

Turner is a backup for a reason, he isn't good enough to start. No other team traded for him and there are some who really need a RB.

We are set at RB with Jones and Barber so can we please stop with the stupid "trade for Turner" threads. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Jerry said they had the card ready with Spencers name on it and were ready to turn it in until the trade happened. So I doubt it also.

Gil is old and senile. In his breakdown of Spencer he wrote that he weighed 280+ pounds that Combine and that it was a problem that he lost so much weight so quickly.

There isn't a running back in the league who would be starting if he were in Turner's situation. He's a backup because SD has the best guy in the game at his position starting.

That said, the Cowboys sure don't need to worry about trading for him. I wouldn't give a first round pick for him, even if I did need an RB, that's just San Diego trying to squeeze out some blood.

And I sure don't believe Jerry was foolish enough to offer his first rounder for him.
