Outside Zone vs. Inside Zone is what this is all about. The Shanahan Tree runs Outside Zone all day, every day. Inside Zone only works when you have a back that can CONSISTENTLY break those runs outside. It was like poetry in motion watching Montgomery and Gibbs cutting backside on so many of those runs - like they were Terrell Davis in his prime. The scheme still works 30+ years later.

I think these are cumulative for the whole season since Guyton rode the bench yesterday. Just my guess.

Guyton and Beebe have the talent, but they're rookies. Most rookies struggle. We got spoiled with Larry Allen, Stepnoski and Martin. But they're the exception, not the rule. Problem is Steele won't get better, Martin is likely retiring after this year. Need a RG and RT, and getting both in the draft is difficult, and even if you do what do you do about a running back? And a good MLB and FS are needed as well.
