The Cowboys have a big CAP problem and while they can certainly get through it, there are going to be some data points like this one out of necessity. Rookie contracts are cheap and when your top 3 players eat up 50% of the CAP you better have a lot of cheap rookies to fill the roster.

Yes please!! They need to deal down and acquire future firsts, then deal down more from there and stockpile picks in order to create another window similar to the one they just blew. Two years away if lucky.

Either that or figure out how to find the money to participate in free agency.

They currently operate as if every top draft pick will make an immediate impact.

That exemplifies the arrogance more than anything…many teams bust first rounders, especially late ones. They don’t see it that way. They think they are outsmarting everyone, and would clearly rather risk having an inferior roster than “overpay” for a free agent.
