Cowboys Open As 5.5-point Favorites Over Giants In Season Opener

The Dallas Cowboys won't kick off the 2015 NFL regular season against the Giants for another 143 days, but the Vegas sportsbooks have already released the lines for the NFL opening weekend. Following almost immediately upon the release of the schedule, Vegas has the Cowboys as 5.5-point favorites against the Giants on September 13 in Dallas.

This makes the Cowboys one of the biggest favorites for opening weekend; only thePatriots are bigger favorites (-6) over the Steelers in the season opener. The Cowboys finished last season with a 12-4 record and recorded twice as many wins as the Giants, who finished 6-10.

The over/under for the Cowboys home opener is set at 50 points.

Dallas was 9-3 (75%) in games where they were a favorite last year and 4-2 (66.7%) in games they were an underdog. In 2013 they were 6-2 in games they were the favorite and 2-6 in games they were the underdog.

Doesn't guarantee you won't be biting your nails, but don't sweat point spreads being in your favor either!

2-6 huh, that's interesting.

I think the Giants are on a down slide but that number seems premature for an opener.

That's my exact prediction.

The way I see it, we'll win between 10 & 13 games this year... With something between 10-6 and 12-4 being most likely. Split the difference and it's 11-5.
