this is part of it, thought youd be interested;
Richard Durrett: All right, let's get rolling.
1:01
Richard Durrett: Oops, I'm not Richard Durrett. Hold on a minute and let me fix that. Then we'll get rolling.
1:02
[Comment From JImmy Johnson]
Is it too early to worry about Romo's performance in these OTA's?
1:04
Richard Durrett: Yes, it's way too early.
First of all, it's not like Romo has looked awful in the limited access the media gets to OTAs. I didn't think he had a good day yesterday, but he was OK during the previous two media-access workouts.
And, really, nothing that happens during OTAs should make you worry about a proven veteran quarterback, barring injury. You can start worrying about Romo the week after Thanksgiving.
1:04
[Comment From CK]
Do you think the Razorback will efficient for the Cowboys?
1:08
Richard Durrett: I think that the Cowboys are wise to experiment with the formation.
Anything the Cowboys can do to get Felix Jones the ball in space is worth considering. That's the primary goal of the "Razorback" formation (known as the Wildcat around the NFL).
Not sure whether Patrick Crayton can be a good trigger man in the formation. He's not especially explosive, and we don't know whether he can execute well enough in the passing game to keep defenses honest.
Another benefit of the Razorback: It gives opposing defenses something else they have to prepare for, taking practice and meeting time away from getting ready for the Cowboys' more traditional formations.

[Comment From Guest]
with the injury history of Stanbeck shouldn't the Cowboys take a flier on Matt Jones
1:14
Tim MacMahon: Makes sense to me, but at this point, I don't think Matt Jones will be a Cowboy next season.
Jerry Jones was very clear before the draft that the Cowboys didn't have interest in Jones. Now, we've since learned that Jones wouldn't have to serve a suspension, which might have changed the Cowboys' minds. However, the Cowboys signed a WR off the scrap heap last week (Mike Jefferson). If they were interested in Jones, it seems like that would have been the time to bring him in, giving him an opportunity to learn the offense and build a rapport with Tony Romo.
Having said that, Jones has the talent to challenge for the No. 2 WR job on this team -- and he's an ex-Arkansas QB who could handle running the Razorback offense.
1:14
[Comment From Rob]
As in previous years are defensive backfield was labeled suspect. Would you say that it is now one of our areas of strength with what youve seen thus far?
1:17
Tim MacMahon: I'd call the secondary promising at this point.
Terence Newman is a proven Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback, but his recent injury history is frightening. Second-year CBs Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick have the coaching staff all fired up about their potential. Alan Ball and Mike Mickens, who hasn't been able to participate in OTAs because his semester isn't over, give the Cowboys good young depth at that position.
The Cowboys believe Gerald Sensabaugh will make a big difference at strong safety because of his coverage skills. Ken Hamlin got his money last spring, but he has a ton to prove after a mediocre (at best) campaign last season. Rookie S Mike Hamlin continues to impress the coaches.
1:17
[Comment From James]
Your Cowboys will NOT win in Arrowhead! You can write that down.
1:17
Tim MacMahon: Ooooh ... nothing like trash talk four months before a game!!!
1:18
[Comment From Robbie]
Whose looking good with our lower tier receivers?
1:20
Tim MacMahon: Well, Isaiah Stanback had to get his knee scoped, so he's out until training camp.
Of the other guys in the mix for the No. 5 WR gig, undrafted free agent Kevin Ogletree has looked the best in our limited access. Rick "Goose" Gosselin had a sixth-round grade on Ogletree.
It is worth noting that, with several receivers sitting due to injuries yesterday, Mike Jefferson worked as the No. 3 WR with the first team. Maybe that's just because Jefferson, who spent most of the last two seasons on the Cowboys' practice squad, has a better grasp of the offense than the rookies.
1:20
[Comment From Jimmy]
How is Marcus Dixon doing ? Do you think he has a chance to make the team?
1:22
Tim MacMahon: Dixon definitely has a chance to make the team, although I don't see the Cowboys cutting Jason Hatcher or Stephen Bowen. Dixon would probably have to be impressive enough during training camp and the preseason to convince the Cowboys to keep five defensive ends.
Dixon looks like he's in very good shape, but that's really about all I can tell from non-contact OTA workouts. But during draft weekend, Jerry Jones mentioned Dixon's development as a reason the Cowboys didn't pick a DE.
1:22
[Comment From Chad]
Maybe it's too early to be looking to next year but looking at the age of our starting OL and the contract status of Holland, Proctor, and McQuistan, paired with our DL which has Spears, Hatcher, Savaii, and Bowen all hitting FA next year, what are the chances almost every single one of our draft picks in 2010 goes to revamping the trenches like this years draft revamped our LB's, DB's, and special teams? I'm thinking OT in the 1st, G in the 2nd, DE in the 3rd, C in the 4th, then a couple WR projects since Stanback and Hurd will probably be gone, and Crayton will be entering the last year of his deal. What do ya think?
1:23
Tim MacMahon: You're right. It's too early to talk about next year's draft.
1:23
[Comment From Brian]
How is Romo takig all the talk that the Cowboys need to run more so that he doesn't make so many mistakes.... Thanks Tim keep up the good work
1:25
Tim MacMahon: Can't say for sure. Romo is avoiding the media. He talked after the first OTA workout, and that might be the last time we hear from him until training camp. During that interview session, he was his typical philosophical self, being careful not to say anything remotely controversial ... although a scribe in Buffalo took issue with Romo not saying a certain receiver's name while answering questions about him.
1:25
[Comment From Will]
Sorry if someone has asked this already, but how is Tashard Choice looking?
1:26
Tim MacMahon: Tashard Choice looks good. He carries himself with a lot of swagger. That was the case before his breakout December, but now he's proven that he can perform at a high level against good NFL defenses.
Not sure exactly how the RB rotation will work, but Choice will have a role in the offense. Coach Jerry said so yesterday.
1:26
[Comment From CBOYSFAN]
WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON THE POSSIBILITY OF THE COWBOYS MAYBE PICKING UP A WR IN FREE AGENCY,SUCH AS MAYBE JOE HORN OR MARVIN HARRISON?
1:28
Tim MacMahon:
There's an NFL rule against using a cane on the field, so forget about Joe Horn. And Jerry Jones has consistently said he's confident in the young WRs on the roster. I'd be very surprised if the Cowboys seriously consider Marvin Harrison or any other over-30 WR.
1:28
[Comment From Guest]
Can Spencer replace Ellis?
1:30
Tim MacMahon: Yes, if he stays healthy. The coaches say with a straight face that Spencer, a force against the run, played better than Ellis last season.
Don't get caught up in the sack numbers. Spencer got very few opportunities to play on passing downs, because that was Ellis' role. Spencer will get a lot of those opportunities this season. It'll be disappointing if Spencer's sack total doesn't approach double figures.
The bigger question is whether one of the fourth-rounders (Victor Butler and Brandon Williams) will be ready to contribute as a pass-rusher for 15-20 snaps per game. Wade Phillips raved about Williams' first step yesterday.
1:30
[Comment From CBOYSFAN]
I KNOW THE NFL IS A COPY CAT LEAGUE,BUT WHY SHOULD THE COWBOYS RUN THE "WILDCAT/RAZORBACK" OFFENSE?IT JUST SEEMS LIKE THE OPTION FROM COLLEGE BALL TO MUCH IN MY OPINION.
1:31
Tim MacMahon: Anything that can get Felix Jones the ball in the open field is worth trying.
1:31
[Comment From William]
Do you think the youth movement will help them in December. I think the team has been wearing down at the end of the year. When I think of the players released, none of them were playing their best when it mattered most
1:33
Tim MacMahon:
Whether the Cowboys can win in December and beyond comes down in large part to whether Tony Romo can perform at his fall level in those games. For whatever reason, Romo's production drops drastically when the calendar turns to December. That has to change.
1:33
[Comment From Guest]
Will deon anderson make the team again?
1:33
Tim MacMahon: I think so, but he can't come into camp assuming he has a job. Julius Crosslin, who spent last season on the practice squad, will provide competition.
1:33
[Comment From bob4boobs]
What exactly is Tony Romo supposed to do in that Razorback formation. Maybe be involved in a double pass? I would think that would only be beneficial if Romo was a slash type runner too.
1:36
Tim MacMahon: Romo's primary repsonsibility will probably be to stay out of the way.
Why have Romo on the field at all? Because you're not tipping off the defense that the Razorback is coming. Chad Pennington spilits out wide when the Dolphins use the Wildcat.
If the Cowboys use the formation, I'm sure that they'll come up with a play or two where Romo ends up throwing the ball. Romo is also a good enough athlete to be a receiving threat if the defense chooses to ignore him, but the Cowboys won't put him in position to take any more hits than he already does.
1:36
[Comment From bob4boobs]
Was Jenkins a decent tackler in College? Or will he be another Deon? No complaints if he's that good in pass coverage though
1:37
Tim MacMahon: Jenkins was a first-round pick because of his coverage ability, especially in press man. He was never considered a great tackler. But he has to at least stick his nose in there when a running back comes his way. Hopefully, he learned his lesson after the fallout from his ole play on Derrick Ward last season.
1:38
[Comment From Bill]
How about a 'nickname for the running backs' contest?
1:38
Tim MacMahon: Go for it, but I believe they've settled on "Smash, Dash and Tash."
1:38
[Comment From Trevor]
Richard, what Cowboy player do you think will have the biggest improvement from 2008?
1:40
Tim MacMahon:
Well, this is Tim, but I'll give you two nominations. They're two top picks in the '08 draft.
Mike Jenkins will get much more playing time. The coaches are confident he'll perform like a first-rounder this season.
Martellus Bennett had a pretty good rookie season. For a variety of reasons, the Cowboys will use the two-TE formation more often this season, meaning Bennett will get much more playing time. I anticipate he'll put up numbers in the neighborhood of 35 catches, 450 yards and six TDs.
1:41
[Comment From michael]
how is the chemistry looking between romo and roy williams early in the off-season?
1:41
Tim MacMahon: Eh, hit and miss. They hooked up for a few TDs during our access day last week. They had a rough day yesterday. Scroll down on the blog and check out my OTA observations for more details.
1:42
[Comment From Bill]
OOps, didn't mean to hit return. I'd nominate 'Capt Crash, Dash, & The Flash' as the nickname for our RB triplets.
1:42
[Comment From max]
will Bobby Carpenter have more of a role this year
1:43
Tim MacMahon: Carpenter will have every opportunity to replace Kevin Burnett in the nickel and dime packages. His competition for that role will be rookies Jason Williams and Stephen Hodge.
1:43
[Comment From bob4boobs]
Who's your prediction on a new coach if we flounder in December again?
1:43
Tim MacMahon: Mike Shanahan is the early favorite. Mike Holmgren would probably be the next choice if I had to put money down.
1:44
[Comment From TO]
Why are you reporters in Dallas obsessed with me? I don't play there anymore... hop off my jock. No one outside of Buffalo wants to hear anything about me anymore.
1:44
Tim MacMahon: Because Jerry Jones carefully reads all the T.O. coverage, and we try especially hard to please our rich readers.
1:45
[Comment From Morris]
Has there been a discernible difference from last years Wade Phillips to the new and improved (and tougher) Wade Phillips?
1:45
Tim MacMahon: Publicly, probably not. Behind closed doors, you hope so. There have been some subtle changes during OTA workouts. For example, when offensive linemen jump, they're often replaced for a play by their backups.
1:46
[Comment From Gary Davis]
How has Patrick Watkins looked in OTA's? This is probably his last opportunity with the Cowboys. Also, has Coach Cupcake given an indication of there will be actual hitting and tackling in this year's training camp?
1:47
Tim MacMahon: Watkins had nice coverage on a Stephen McGee deep ball to John Phillips yesterday, but I haven't noticed the safety much other than that. Watkins is a good special teams player when he's healthy, so he'll have a chance to make the team, but my hunch is the rookie safeties will make the roster and there won't be room for Watkins.
1:47
[Comment From Samson254]
In all honesty Alan Ball has been with us for over three years now and has not produced. What are the odds that Mike Mickens beats out Alan Ball for the 4th cornerback spot?
1:48
Tim MacMahon: Alan Ball wasn't bad when he was forced onto the field last year. He's been working some at safety, too, and his versatility is a big plus.
Since Mickens hasn't participated in OTAs -- his college semester isn't over, so he can't -- it's really difficult to put odds on his chances of beating out Ball for the fourth corner spot. But I think both guys will be on the 53-man roster.
1:49
[Comment From LS]
Can you please stop referring to Roy Williams as being "Coachable" it's no longer funny. Has he been coachable during OTAs though?
1:49
Tim MacMahon: Roy Williams is always coachable. He reminds folks of that any time his stats from last season are mentioned.
1:49
[Comment From Mike Holmgren]
Assuming the Cowboys are .500, or less, at the end of October, what are the chances that Coach Cupcake gets the axe?
1:50
Tim MacMahon: Jerry has never fired a coach mid-season. The Cowboys would have to have a disastrous start for that to happen this season, especially since Jerry caught so much heck for keeping Wade Phillips in the first place.
The coaching staff is in place! The coaching staff is in place!
1:50
[Comment From Sam]
Are you as excited as I am now that Henry and Roy are no longer plaguing our secondary?
1:51
Tim MacMahon: You didn't use any exclamation points, so I'm not sure how excited you are!!!!!!
1:51
[Comment From T.O.]
Romo lining up at WR for the razorback?
1:51
Tim MacMahon: Well, he has better hands than you.
1:51
[Comment From Vinny Cerrato]
Has Dallas addressed its low INT/sack ratio? it was like 8 INT for 50+ sacks. That's not good. Either the coaches are doing a lousy job prepping them or they have the wrong DB. Seems like there is always a cushion for opposing WR regardless of the route.
Tim MacMahon: Creating more turnovers is one of the goals for the defense this season. That was strongly considered when the Cowboys drafted DBs this year. Mike Mickens, DeAngelo Smith and Mike Hamlin all had double-figure INT totals in college.
1:53
[Comment From T.O.]
Do you think Romo can get off the Jam?
1:53
Tim MacMahon: At least as well as you did last season.
[Comment From Guest]
If Mike Jenkins takes the next step this year and plays like where he was drafted does this make the defense extremely dangerous (assuming Newman doesn't have annual week 4 of preseason injury)
1:53
[Comment From Sid]
I know we've been warned not to panic about Tony sailing throws in OTA's as it is way to early to be concerned, but this isn't anything new. He seems to have a habit of wildly missing at least two to three passes a game ala Brett Favre, it seemed to get worse last season even before his finger injury. Is it something he can fix or do we have to take the good with the bad as boys fans?
1:55
Tim MacMahon: Romo's accuracy ranks pretty far down the list of the Cowboys' concerns. He's a 64-percent career passer.
1:55
[Comment From Sid]
Who plays left tackle if Flozell goes down?
1:56
Tim MacMahon: Good question. Doug Free is working as the backup right now. Pat McQuistan, who has been primarily playing guard during OTAs, is another option.
1:56
[Comment From Duane]
Do you think the hits that Barber has taken are starting to take a toll on him? I know that he had some injury issues last year, but he seemed like a very different player.
1:59
Tim MacMahon: I don't see Barber's running style as something to be concerned about if the Cowboys are committed to an RB committee. We didn't get to see how he'd handle workhorse duty down the stretch last season because of a toe injury that had nothing to do with his bruising style.
But I think Barber is at his best if he can go full blast for about 12 or 15 carries a game. Jerry Jones hinted again yesterday that Barber might not be the starter, although he's gotten most of the work that we've seen with the first-team offense.
There's no question the Cowboys want Barber fresh in the fourth quarter.
1:59
[Comment From Shamus]
How is the LB corp as a whole...specifically inside LBs - will better safety play help the LBs out?
2:00
Tim MacMahon:
You can't really tell much from non-contact OLBs when it comes to linebackers.
I do believe that Keith Brooking will be a bit of an upgrade over Zach Thomas on first and second downs. Brooking is a little bigger and much more comfortable playing the Mo LB in Wade Phillips' scheme.
2:01
[Comment From Lyle]
Will the OL dominate with the return of Kosier or will they be hit and miss all season again?
2:04
Tim MacMahon: First, let's see if Kyle Kosier can stay healthy. He's been working on the side during OTAs after getting the pins removed from the foot that kept him off the field most of last season.
You also have to wonder how much the O-line missed Tony Sparano last season. Jerry acknowledged that it was a bumpy transition to Hudson Houck, but the owner/GM thinks the line will be better because it has a year under its belt with Houck in charge.
The biggest key is Flozell Adams, who had a poor season last year despite his Pro Bowl berth. At 34, how much does he have left in the tank?
2:04
[Comment From Billy]
I like Crayton as a wide receiver but can't stand watching him return punts. We are long overdue for an upgrade to this aspect of special teams. Do you see someone else either partially or fully taking over these duties? Could this be Ogletree's chance of making the roster?
2:07
Tim MacMahon: Crayton isn't a great punt returner, but he's adequate (9.1 and 9.5 yards per return the last two seasons). The key is he catches the ball cleanly on a consistent basis.
It'd be fun to watch Felix Jones' explosiveness on punt returns, but he has problems catching the ball, and that can lead to disastrous turnovers. I doubt he'll ever be an NFL punt returner.
Ogletree has sub-4.4 speed, but he hasn't been one of the guys catching punts during OTAs.
2:08
[Comment From quick]
who do you think is going to win 4th and long and why do you think that they will or will not make a impact on this years team?
2:08
Tim MacMahon: Not sure who will win ... and pretty positive he won't make the 53-man roster.
2:08
[Comment From Coach Janky Spanky]
It's a cliche, but it's a true one, that winning in the NFL is all about the details. Do you see a real commitment to getting those details right? Is this different from last year, so far?
2:09
Tim MacMahon: We do see signs that the staff is more focused on details than last season, such as yanking linemen who jump offsides. Wade Phillips calls it a commitment to doing things "exactly right."
2:09
[Comment From Jones]
Will the new Cowboy's stadium have any effect on how the team plays?
2:10
Tim MacMahon: I don't think so. The closing of Texas Stadium -- and all the pomp and circumstance that came with it -- definitely didn't help the Cowboys.
2:10
[Comment From kevin]
does felix jones look fluid since the injury to his toe? I believe that is a strong part of his game being able to make cuts without slowing down.
2:10
Tim MacMahon: Yes. Felix Jones appears to be back to his explosive self.
2:10
[Comment From Joshua]
What's Travis Wilson looked like? What are you hearing from the coaches about him? Is this a kid that has a shot at the roster or not?
2:11
Tim MacMahon: He's in a group with Manuel Johnson and Kevin Ogletree, trying to beat out Isaiah Stanback for the No. 5 WR role. Travis Wilson wasn't at yesterday's workout. Not sure why.
2:11
[Comment From Brian]
Have you been watching 4th and Long I'm thinking if that Holly kid can keep up the good work he might be the 80th man. If so would you think that he has a chance to make the team if Stanback is not ready in time for traning camp
2:12
Tim MacMahon: I've watched the first couple of episodes. Haven't gotten to this week's on the TiVo yet. It's entertaining, but I seriously doubt any of those dudes will have a legit chance to make the team.
2:12
[Comment From FizzEd in Oregon]
Whom is the UNquestioned leader of this team (playerwise) ??
2:13
Tim MacMahon: Don't think there is one. Bradie James is probably the biggest vocal leader on the team.
2:13
[Comment From Joshua]
There's been rumblings that Sensabaugh might fit FS better and Hamlin would be better at SS. Do you know if that is how they are playing or is Sensabaugh spending his time at the SS spot?
2:13
Tim MacMahon: The coaches will tell you there's not really much of a difference between the two spots. That's one reason Roy Williams never fit in this scheme.
2:14
[Comment From Steve]
What are your thoughts concerning the offensive line, specifically at guard. Greg Isdaner is intriguing to me. Do you think he has a chance to make the team?
2:14
Tim MacMahon: I'd like to see Isdaner in shoulder pads at least once before speculating on that.
2:15
[Comment From TD]
Who do you think will be our #2 receiver? Crayton or Austin?
2:15
Tim MacMahon: Crayton is getting all the reps during OTAs, but if Austin is healthy during training camp, I like his chances. Austin is a big-play threat that can stretch the field. The Cowboys need that.
2:15
[Comment From Michael]
Regards to the offense. The lost of TO and his 1000+ yards and TDs is concerning but it is not like he did that much last year being shut out alot by double coverage. Don't you think that with the three headed RB monster, Martellus, and Witten, and the WR we can have at least a decent if not good offense?
2:16
Tim MacMahon: The Cowboys' offense still has a ton of talent. If they don't score a lot of points, that means Jason Garrett hasn't done a very good job.
2:17
[Comment From MagicSoccerSpray]
Can the Boys rely on Saivi at backup DT? Or will Spears actually be the true backup?
2:17
Tim MacMahon: Wade Phillips seems pretty confident that Junior Siavii can be the backup NT despite having not played a regular-season down in three years. Marcus Spears and Igor Olshansky can play NT in a pinch.
2:22
[Comment From Dick Chauncey]
Based on what you've seen in the OTA's, could the Cowboys beat the Eagles in a Safeway parking lot?
2:22
Tim MacMahon: That's better than any idea Bruce Read ever had.
2:22
[Comment From aggiekatalyst]
Are the Cowboys pretty confident that Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick can play at starters level at corner...and who appears to have the upper hand on starting along side Terrance Newman?
2:24
Tim MacMahon: The Cowboys are extremely confident in Jenkins and Scandrick. Wade Phillips said they're "as gifted any any corners I've been around."
2:24
[Comment From Samson254]

I don't think he's here, but if I see him, I'll let him know you're looking for him.
2:26
[Comment From Jones]
Any word on the Demarcus Ware contract?
2:27
Tim MacMahon: Jerry said yesterday that they'll get it done. He was very matter of fact about it.
Pushed about whether it'd get done before the season, Jerry hemmed and hawwed a bit.
Educated guess: It'll get done around the start of training camp with Ware getting about $45 million guaranteed.
2:27
[Comment From TexAgs]
I have read very little on McGee. How has he looked?
2:27
[Comment From TexAgs]
I have read very little on McGee. How has he looked?
2:29
Tim MacMahon: The rookie QBs don't get many reps during OTAs. McGee is doing a lot of watching and hopefully learning.
He did get several reps in a RB/TE vs. LB/S passing drill yesterday. He only threw one ball downfield -- incomplete to well covered John Phillips -- but he threw the ball accurately and with good zip.
We should see a lot of McGee during training camp and the preseason.
2:29
[Comment From Tom]
What do you say about Jon Kitna starting? He's sounds better than romo in practice and already has a great relationship with roy williams.
2:29
Tim MacMahon: The only way Jon Kitna starts is if Tony Romo gets hurt. Kitna readily accepts that.
2:30
[Comment From RJL]
Why is Cory Proctor still on this team?
2:32
Tim MacMahon: Cory Procter (note spelling of last name) is still on the team because he's a valuable backup who can play three positions (either guard or center). He's primarily worked at center during OTAs.
However, with a salary of $1.54 million, Procter certainly isn't guaranteed a roster spot. He could be cut if Montrae Holland proves he can play center or Ryan Gibbons has a good training camp/preseason.
2:32
[Comment From JD]
Scandrick vs Jenkins? Pros and Cons?
2:35
Tim MacMahon: Scandrick is a competitor with sub-4.4 speed who played well in significant experience as a slot corner last season. He's extremely savvy for his age, too.
Jenkins has the speed and skills to be an elite man-press corner. He could become the kind of guy coaches tell to cover the opponent's best WR, like Terence Newman did with Santana Moss in the win over Washington last season.
Cons with Scandrick: He's a bit undersized and doesn't have Jenkins' long arms to make up for it.
Cons with Jenkins: Questions about his toughness and work ethic.
Both guys are working on improving their technique and getting better in zone coverage.
2:35
[Comment From Dick Chauncey]
Will the nachos be better at the new stadium? The ones at Texas Stadium were not as good as the ones at Wildcat Stadium in Callisburg.
2:36
Tim MacMahon: I'm sure the Cowboys/Yankees' fancy new concessions company will cook up some gourmet nachos. Might not be Class 2A quality, though.
2:36
[Comment From bill]
what do you think of rudy carpenters chance of making the team are?
2:36
Tim MacMahon: Better than mine, but not by much.
2:37
[Comment From Stanback]
I will make this team!
2:37
Tim MacMahon: Isaiah, I'm not counting you out. But you've got to get healthy and stay healthy, and that's something you haven't been able to do since your junior year of college.
2:37
[Comment From Zeb]
Do you think Austin will have a breakout year, meaning close to 700-800 yards and 7-8 TDs?
2:38
Tim MacMahon: Yep. Again, that depends on Austin staying healthy, which he's had trouble doing. But he's a big target with great speed and a rapport with Tony Romo.
2:38
[Comment From pete]
do you think the cowboys will pickup any players from other teams that are starting material
2:39
[Comment From John Blank]
Can you explain why it is so difficult for the Cowboys to develop offensive linemen from the draft given the reputation of their coaches? They have not developed a starting lineman from the draft since Andre Gurode. Do the scouts ever say why they miss?
2:39
Tim MacMahon: Doubt that. The Cowboys are set with their starters. If they pick up players from other teams, it'll be to churn the bottom of the roster.
2:41
Tim MacMahon: No,. I can't explain it. Neither can they.
If you look at their last OL crop, James Marten just didn't have good enough feet. Well, that was his biggest problem. Doug Free has OK feet, but he isn't powerful enough.
2:42
[Comment From ☆☆☆ Coach Wayne ☆☆☆]
Last year when Brad Johnson was demoted to 3rd string, he still made the 47 man roster because he was the only kick holder. Will the Cowboys wise up and have multiple kick holders this year?
2:42
Tim MacMahon: Yes. Sam Hurd and Patrick Crayton are working some as FG holders.
2:42
[Comment From Steven]
Ran some numbers on TO vs. Roy. Last year, TO without Romo and the monster SF game he had averaged per game 4.2 catches, 61.6 yards, and 0.7 TDs. Last year, Roy in his 4 games wtih Detroit averaged 4.3 catches, 58 yeards, but only 0.3 TDs. In 2007, Roy averaged 5.3 catches 69.8 years, and 0.4 TDs per game. Roy's 06 stats were similar but had a better 82 yards per game. My question, are we really losing all that much going from TO to Roy? Yes there's a big TD difference, so we'll need to see if Roy can become a bigger play maker.
2:44
Tim MacMahon:
They're losing a guy who opponents double-teamed on a regular basis. But the Cowboys should be able to replace T.O.'s production from last season, when he wasn't very good.
Roy Williams ought to be able to produce double-digit TDs, which he's never done in the NFL. He's a big receiver whose best attribute is his ability to catch the ball in traffic. With the Cowboys, he'll get more scoring opportunities than he ever got in Detroit.
2:45
[Comment From Shane]
Any word on McBriar? I know he dealt with that nasty injury last season, but does he seem to be fully recovered?
1:09
2:24

Last year when Brad Johnson was demoted to 3rd string, he still made the 47 man roster because he was the only kick holder. Will the Cowboys wise up and have multiple kick holders this year?

Tim MacMahon: Yes. Sam Hurd and Patrick Crayton are working some as FG holders.

Any word on McBriar? I know he dealt with that nasty injury last season, but does he seem to be fully recovered?
