Cowboys OTAs shockers! Practice Takeaways, Standouts and News

Yes. Grier is over 30 years old and has made all of 52 NFL passing attempts.
He wants to draw an NFL paycheck keeps at it even though he has been QB3 or 4 everywhere he goes since 2019.
He will almost certainly retire to coach football which will not pay him the 1.1M he is making this year on his 1-year deal.

How is it going to end?
Best case scenario is the patented one and done in the playoffs. Worst case scenario is QB injury and seven wins due to lack of depth as always and poor line play on both sides of the ball which has become a recent Dallas tradition.

Yes. It would be nice to see a video of these throws. And that pick. Was it an off throw or just a good play by Clark.
Someone posted, he heard, or read where he stared the receiver down, so Clark read it all the way.
I heard that it was the same TE seam route that Milton hit on last week for a big play and Clark read it this time.

So, you are saying there is no way that they win a playoff game. It's really hard to say until they start playing games and the injuries start piling up league wide.

I think they can possibly win one playoff game. A wildcard game against some bottom feeder. But that is their ceiling until a new QB arrives which will not be for some time.

No, I think Milton will be. We traded a pick for Milton, while Grier cost us nothing. I think Milton will receive the majority of the playing time in the preseason because he needs it while Grier doesn't (as much), and then will be No. 2 unless he just sucks.

That also gives us the possibility of taking advantage of the fact of him being able to run with the ball to use him on short-yardage sneaks, possibly our version of the tush push, instead of Dak.

I think Grier might end up being kept on the practice squad for the first three games before we have to decide whether to keep him on the roster. And I think if Milton plays bad in the preseason, we might seek a different backup answer. Grier has had several seasons in the league and has done nothing with them.
We have a pick for the last QB, he wasn’t the backup. We will see but he should be getting most of pre season reps, though I hope Dak gets some. Don’t like sitting a starter the whole pre season. But I’d get my young guys reps in first qtr when possible. The idea is to get them reps against better competition

Micah plays like 80-90% of the snaps at one DE spot. It was only Sam Williams' second year in 2023 and he was fighting with Tank, Armstrong, Golston (also played some DT) and Fowler for snaps at the other spot. Still, he played more snaps that season than Fowler did and Fowler moved on to Washington and had over 10 sacks (12th in the entire NFL) last year. Williams was going to have a much bigger role last year before his injury in what was only going to be his 3rd season. But, we are going to rotate a lot again so don't expect any of these guys other than Micah to have a ton of snaps.
For this defense, I like the Williams' size.

I don't believe it can be done with Jerry. I've said it millions of times, I truly believe that the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Cowboys won despite Jerry Jones.

The same will be true if they have a successful winning season in 2025.
Explain this element, for real:

In an exclusive chat with Brian Schottenheimer, the head coach and offensive play caller was clear in both his praise of Steele and in what he expects to see from his starting right tackle in the post-Martin era.

"I think it's a great example of these guys that come in all different personalities," he said. "Terence is one of the hardest workers that we have. His work ethic, the way he trains, the way he approaches being a pro and his craft are amazing. He's not the most vocal guy, and that's not a bad thing.

Don't reference Jerry, Dak, or Coach crap once.

I agree with this ........ let's also keep in mind he has now played for 2 different defensive coordinators and STILL hasn't cracked the starting lineup. He was Quinn's draft pick, so we know they had hopes of high-level play and starting by now. This is just my take but I question whether Sam's work ethic a bit coz it's obvious coaches don't fully trust him. Is he paying attention to small details and not looking for splash plays? Is he following keys instead of looking for splash plays?

He is a player with top 15 talent IMO........but way too many other issues going in the wrong direction
Who are the two DC he has played for? He was here for two years with Quinn and then blew out his knee in July before playing for Zimmer.
