Monday, I posted on the dynamics of the Cowboys passing attack, pointing out that itrelied heavily on its split end, tight end and flanker. I received a few questions on the roles the running backs and second tight end would play in the scheme?
If history is any indicator, they'll play much smaller, supporting roles. What we're talking about the running back and the F-back, the designation for the 2nd tight end or 3rd receiver, depending on formation, these ancillary receivers will get roughly 25 to 30% of the passing pie to divide among themselves.
Here are the passing splits from three recent years, one where Dallas relied on two players to carry the attack, and two more where the Cowboys had three options.
With two super players
Here are the splits from the 2007 Cowboys, Jason Garrett's first team.
