Cowboys plan to elevate RB Dalvin Cook from the practice squad

All based on the opponent, last week we needed more secondary help, or DL help so we called up extra guys on the DL I think. With playing SF having so many injuries, we may need less of something thus allowing for all four backs MINUS duece to dress
There is absolutely no reason to have Zeke active.

He didn't get a chance to play. He can't come in for 2 plays and head back to the bench. He needs reps to be successful.
He hasn’t been effective to get more opportunities. If he was able to break off a run every once in a while, he would get more opportunities. This is how Pollard got opportunities. No back is going to be given many opportunities who averaged 1.9 per carry off of 24 carries last season and is only averaging 2.9 a carry this season.

He makes one 40 yard run and it throws your yards per carry right out the window.

He has to get opportunities. He hasn't. It's a shame he hasn't ever been given a chance to show what he can do.
He hasn’t done anything with the opportunities he’s been given, which is why he’s not getting more opportunities. When Pollard first came along, he was only getting 4 to 6 carries but every few carries he would break a big TD run. Because he was making big plays he started getting more opportunities until he was splitting carries with Zeke. He was so good he became our starter. No team is going to give a back a bunch of opportunities that has almost as many negative carries as positive carries. He needs space to show what he can do. He’s not big enough to break tackles and push piles. The great backs are able to free themselves, making something out of nothing.

Fun fact. Did you know that is full name is Dalvin James Cook? His brother who plays for the Bills is James Dalvin Cook.

When was he given opportunities? I'd love to hear about all the times McCarthy came thru for him.

Giving a RB a couple random carries in formations and plays not designed for him isn't any kind of opportunity.

He’s gotten 7 carries and gained only 20 yards. His longest run was 4 yards. The one who needs to come through is Deuce. McCarthy‘s job is on the line and he’s going to play his best players. That’s what all coaches do. If they have to design plays for him then he’s nothing more than a gadget player whose opportunities will be limited. If he’s going to get more carries he has to be able to run the plays the rest of our backs are running and he needs to make a play. Zeke’s carries have been limited because he’s not making plays. Deuce’s size is a detriment, which is why he needs plays designed for him. They’ve used him in the passing game to try and give him some space. He simply doesn’t have the size to play RB in the NFL.

As far as I’m aware, he’s been on the game day roster all season. It’s possible he was inactive for a game, but I don’t remember. I haven’t been keeping track because he’s done virtually nothing this season.
No I don't think he has the last two games I believe he's been inactive....

Shucks. My favorite part of the season so far is watching Zeke gain 1 yard and faceplant.
