Cowboys playcalling in Pro Bowl

I thought it was Romo (and it could very well be) but I noticed that Cowboys coaches were calling more pass plays instead of runs inside the 10. Throwing 3 straight times on the 1 yard line was insane. Even Irvin was openly questioning the play calling in those situations.

That Matty Ice was able to pass for the TD notwithstanding, Cowboys coaches need to be more smashmouth in the redzone. And speaking of Matty Ice, anyone notice him telling Romo to calm down (essentially "shut up") leading up to winning TD?

Exactly why "Matty" was watching the playoffs at home and the Falcons finished 6-10.

why did he tell romo to shut up? I didn't watch the probowl.

it wasn't really Romo he was telling from what i could tell. there was a huddle before the 4th down touchdown pass of Ryan, Romo, Garrett, Linehan, Irvin, and a few others discussing what to do. at one point it looked like 5 of them were all talking at once and Ryan just interjected and was like, "everyone lets calm down" or something along those lines....

Romo was standing right next to him so it probably looked like he was addressing just Romo but from my vantage point it was the whole huddle he was addressing.

i actually enjoyed that part it was entertaining watching the brainstorm on what to do on that play.

for gawd's sake....seriously. this is freaking probowl. its for the fans. fun of the fans. they don't game plan. nor does it count for anything. its about ENTERTAINMENT. TD passes are more entertaining.

Yeah, Romo was trying to run 22 personell out there and Garrett said we can't run 22 personell in the Probowl. Everyone was talking in the huddle and then Michael Irvin got in the middle of it and it was basically Romo and Linehan trying to decide on a play and Matty Ice told everyone to calm down. I guess that's why they call him Matty Ice.

Just my 2 cents. I see a trend I call it. All games are about ENTERTAINMENT genius. I understand that the pro bowl is less competitive but I am sure that Garrett and crew did not change their play calling tendencies specifically for the pro bowl. It's the exact opposite for a game that means nothing or next to nothing, you keep the gist of your scheme and situational play calling.

Matty Ice also said something along the lines of "Here's what we're going to do" when everyone was interjecting what they thought we should do and the time was running down to make a decision. A the time I thought he was being a bit rude to the coaches, but in hindsight, SOMEONE had to make a decision and he stepped up and then executed his decision.

All in all, he was much more impressive to me than the Offensive MVP Matt Stafford.

great troll thread OP, wish I would've thought of this

Troll? Perhaps I'm getting up there in age to understand the term these days, but I'm just talking about Cowboys football. Is that no longer something of interest in CZ?

Running game seemed a lot like scrimmage where once the back made contact the plays were being blown dead. Even defensive players where not getting overly physical on the tackles, holding RB up and not really taking them down. Heck at one point early on fans booed because DL players were just gabbing the back and not taking him to the ground

It looked to me like there were several players (Romo, Stafford, etc) who are used to being the Man on their teams trying to dictate what the play should be. In a regular game the backup QB's would not be interfering with the play calling.

The part I really liked was someone started to say "We need to score here..." and Garrett interrupted and said "Oh, we're GOING to score".

I knew somebody was going to make a comment about this. Seriously. It's an all-star game. They let Ryan do what he wanted to do.
