We need to get more athletic at the TE position also. We don't attack the deep middle of the field enough. If Rico's concussion issues are for real, we will need to draft one.
100% agreed.

Offensively they looked much better and the running game is improving.

Without turnovers, this defense needs everyone healthy (especially Lee) or it's going to give up 30+ a game.

This is why I wanted that TE from the U in the first round. I'm sure he'd be an upgrade over Taco.

They didn't get the win against Green Bay but they played their best game overall.

Rodgers is much better than the other QBs they've faced.

Did anybody notice how often Aikman said that Rodgers was frustrated? Several times he could not find an open receiver.

The defense intentionally over-focused on the pass and dared Green Bay's run game to beat them. They played a 3-tech DT most of the game with starter Paea out. The DL played all snaps in pass rush mode which caused then to be out of position on some runs.

The Cowboys running game looked it's best this this season. Zeke finally had a few runs like last year where it looked like he would be stopped for about 3 yards but ended up with about 8 and a 1st down.

This was Dak's best game. The INT was primarily on TWilliams. It was about 6 inches off target but should not have been a difficult catch and at worse case should have bounced forward out of his hands, not allowed to go through his hands.

Dez was a more efficient target. He had more yards in the last game but dropped less balls this time. He did drop a TD that hit both hands but got bailed out by a penalty on GB.

The biggest negative was Jaylon. He is just not very good.

Penalties probably cost the Cowboys the game. The facemask by Hitchens and the Personal Foul by Mayowa kept GB drives alive. A non-call on interference against Witten probably cost 4 points.

I really like the young secondary. They often frustrated Rodgers. Lewis is the best CB. They had Brown in over Scandrick on some of the 2 CB sets. Scandrick looks stiff. Awuzie has barely played this season but looked good when he did.

Woods is playing a lot of snaps in Dime. Frazier was inactive but previously played more Safety snaps than Woods. Maybe people get their wish at some point with Woods over Heath. For another week Heath was not as bad as people claim but he's not really good either. He should have been in better position on that final TD by GB.

I would seriously play the Safety Frazier over Jaylon if there are no other options at LB.

Wilson played SLB early but Wilber played there most of the game. I don't know if Wilson was injured or got benched.

The DL got great pressure early but then the pressure faded. I think Green Bay waits until the game gets going before their OL starts holding because refs call a tighter game at the beginning. They have really practiced the art of holding without getting caught.

Fred got called for a hold that was less egregious than what Green Bay does on most snaps but we did get at least one favorable call on the dropped TD pass by Dez.

Oddly the biggest needs on this team for next sesson are likely WR and LB. An elite RDE would always be nice but they don't need to add mid-level talent there as they have a lot of good but not great options. Mid level talent at WR would be an upgrade.
lol, Walker, you need to post this in the Drama Zone forum......I stumbled off in there a couple of minutes ago to check it out......the very first thread I go into, the OP sounded like he was about ready to off himself over yesterday's loss, and made a list of of why this could be the appocolypse that Stephen King might use in a novel..............soooo, I ran out of that rubber room as fast as I could to escape witnessing a inevitable exorcism.

Yep. Except for those last few seconds. Take that out and it was awesome.

When you think about how ugly it looked, you realize we were a couple blown assignments and a Terrance dumbo drop from beating the Packers without Lee, our best defensive player, or Awuzie late in the game.

That's not counting the weak clock management at the end.

Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't go insane because I see how young the team is, and guys like Jaylon coming back from a horrific knee injury, with minimal game time in 18 months, getting rekt on the field because he's just not ready yet.

I actually think we have a decent amount of young talent, and imo have a franchise QB (I don't care if you think he sucks).

I'll be a little more critical if we miss the playoffs, especially if we look like crap. But until then I'm going to enjoy the season and seeing the young guys develop.

I don't see it on linebacker. Lee has missed a couple of games and Smith is playing like a rookie coming off missing a season. I can't see Dallas giving up on Smith becoming an elite starter by drafting an LB early unless the Cowboys feel Lee is at the end of his run, which I don't think they do.

I'm not sure on WR, either. I know you have issues with Bryant, but I don't think Dallas does. And Williams was just signed to a decent deal as the No. 2. Not to mention we've got Beasley for a couple more years, I believe.

At this point, I'm not sure what will be the priority. I think TE could be high up there depending on how the team feels about Gathers. Based on our OL playing worse without Leary, I could see guard being an option depending on where we are drafting. We've got a lot of youth on the defense, so what we do there in the draft will depend on how they develop this year. I certainly wouldn't be against adding another end or even a Booger McFarland-like 1-tech.

The offense was excellent sunday. We have a very good offense. We're an elite Weakside DE, another very good DE, a really good MLB, a hog molly 1T and a legit safety from having a championship caliber defense. Can some of these needs come from in house is my question. We have no 1Ts to speak of, Woods looks fairly promising, so maybe he's part of the safety solution, I'm hopeful for Jaylon but there's no way you can plan around him, no true weakside DEs, but I think Taco has a chance to be a good player...at the strong side.

They would be stupid to count on Jaylon.

If TWill is your #2 then you need more from your #1

TE is not a bad idea, but Garrett is going to keep playing Witten near 100% of the snaps until he is gone.

I mean, that's like half the defense, so yea, if you greatly improve half the defense, we're probably among the best in the league lol.

Sucks that Gathers is still on IR, I want to see from two TE sets with him and Witten.

This is where I am too. It is frustrating to watch because we all want success, but really, what did everybody expect when we blew up the secondary? It'll come. We have a lot of youth/rookies out there. And I'm not giving up on Jaylon yet. I agree he has been a liability on the field, but I feel his failure is more of the coaching staff forcing him into this role. He still needs some time.
