Cowboys please with Diggs' rehab this time

Alternate World View:

Smart Quarterbacks know to not throw at DIGGS!
The reality is that Diggs got his rep bc he did a calculation. He figured out that as long as he gets INTs, nobody notices or remembers how many plays he gave up selling out for the INT. For example, the year he had 11 INTs, he also lead the league in yards given up. He was one of PFFs lowest graded CBs that year but he made the pro bowl!

Diggs then parlayed the 11 INT year into a big contract and the rest is history. He's constantly injured , rehabs lazily, and just isn't worth the investment we made in him. Circling back to my original point, he is not a lock-down CB. QBs go to his side all the time.

I’m sure they see Revel as an eventual starter (as they should) so that pick was about either cutting Diggs or not retaining Bland. Either one. Makes full sense.

Finally ahead of something which is nice.

Its hard to say what Diggs is (other than his business desicions those happened) we have only really seen him in a DQ defense where DQ himself told him to sell out for the INT's. No one knows how he will play in this defense when healthy.. Diggs is a gifted athlete with great hands at CB, thats not over rated lets see what this new DC can do with him when healthy (like get him to hit Kittle)

The dream scenario for the penny-pinching Cowboys is that Shavon Revel, Kaiir Elam, and Caelon Carson all excel and prove to be the future.

Then they can cut Diggs and not worry about paying Bland.

Previous frustration is interesting.......may explain why this could his final year as a Cowboy

Cowboys pleased with Trevon Diggs’ rehab this time after previous frustrations

Trade bait, hopefully. I hope Bland can be CB1, but I also hope they don't sign him until he has another consistent season. Would be nice to get both Diggs and Bland playing at a high level together one more time this next year, but I'm not holding my breath with Diggs. On another CB note, letting Lewis walk this year with an injured Diggs was really, really dumb. JLew had been playing very well for a very low price.

Dallas was not expecting Lewis to get a $10 million per year deal from Jacksonville and thought he was coming back here at the Jerry World discount. Having said that, the contract was a bit steep for a ninth year player that does not play much on the boundary.

I am not totally out on Kaiir Elam though. If he and/or Revel can be future starters that allows Bland to take Lewis' spot and Dallas can move on from Diggs if they choose.

Ah, fair. I did not realize he signed for so much in Jacksonville, I agree on not paying him that much. Glad he got paid though, I always really appreciated him as a player.

I don't know if anyone can say definitively that his second injury was the result of his rehab after the first injury. I think that is speculation. Jerry seems to get frustrated over the wrong things, like when he dumped Cooper for a 5th because he was unhappy Cooper missed a couple of games. Injuries happen. Look at Overshown.

What concerns me more about Diggs, and Overshown, is how much of their speed and quickness will be reduced from the injuries that had. They can come back 100% healthy and yet not 100% of what they were before the injury.

I am also concerned they are injury prone, whatever that is. Some players just seem to get injured a lot. Sean Lee comes to mind.
Jerry should be pissed at his personnel in charge of rehab, it always seems Dallas has players that have issue with rehab whether hang nail or ACL they either come back way later than expected or their injury is more serious than initially thought.
