Cowboys possibly targeting WR Tate?

Just saw the segment with Stephen Jones on NFL Network with the tour of the draft war room and I saw those "blue" tags that the Cowboys could possibly target in each round. FYI I saw WR Brandon Tate as one of those players on the blue tags. I guess we're willing to draft him in the 4th or 5th round and develop him..

I don't see the Boys drafting Tate now that he's apparently flunked his combine drug test... I think this will be a knucklehead-free draft, and it's hard to be much more of a knucklehead than flunking a drug test you know is coming, with millions of dollars on the line...

I'm looking at a 50" HD screen and I can't make out even a single letter. Not sure how you'd come away with any names.

Might depend on where he falls if they will take him. Also may depend on if the player does not have a history of this or other off the field problems ala Harvin.

If this was a one time thing, they found no other off the field problems with the player, they still might take a chance on him with a second day pick as the value would be there.

Harvin IMO is a different thing all together as he has had other off the field issues and he would not fall that far so the risk is greater all the way around to take a player like him.

I am not saying that was the only Issue that Tate has had, just giving a general argument on why they still might take him after the failed drug test as opposed to not taking Harvin.

Who knows, maybe the Boys brass planted the pot story on Tate :)

That said, nobody in the league has better ins with Butch Davis than we do, and Ciskowski and Davis are also good friends. Further, Ciskowski personally attended UNC's proday.

I have wondered if they removed him from their draft board too, but even with the positive test we'd be getting the best info on Tate of any team I think. So maybe they wouldnt remove him if this was deemed an isolated, stupid mistake tyoe of thing.

I'd rather wait and take Tate in the 5th or so, than trade up to take Nicks. Before Tate went down, he was the stud on between the 2.

Brain, if he did indeed flunk a drug test at the Combine, that means he's coming into the league already enrolled in the league's drug program... which means one more failed drug test, and he's suspended...

Now, if he's stupid enough to flunk a drug test at the Combine, KNOWING he's gonna get tested, are you gonna trust him to stay clean once he starts making good money??

I'm not, and I honestly doubt that Jerry would... I don't think he has near the other issues that Harvin does, but he's a stoner... I mean, he's a SERIOUS stoner... if the reports are true; if not, there go all my reservations... given that I've heard no yelps of protest from him or his agent, I'm inclined to believe there's fire behind this smoke...

If I'm Jerry, any player who fails the drug test at the combine comes off the board, no exceptions...

:hammer:

I mean, the guy literally just threw away Millions to smoke pot before the biggest interview of his life - when he knew he was going to be tested. IF all this speculation is true.
