Because a player with his talent, who largely only played in passing scenarios should have been able to produce more. Yes he had a good pressure rate, but given how fresh he should have been given his low number of snaps, he woefully under performed imo. I don't know Gregory personally, but when a player with that much talent doesn't deliver, it usually means they have too many priorities in their life higher than football. A few is understandable, if religion is your thing, by all means, it can take priority. If you have a family, by all means that can be your priority, but clearly marijuana is one, and addict or not, it's just not a recipe for success. And when marijuana is that high in your priorities, odds are being on time for meetings and film study aren't. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I doubt it. Odds are *even if* he's turned the corner, and is ready to take being a professional football player seriously, it will take him more games than we have remaining to really contribute. Players often say for every game you miss when suspended, it takes one game to get back in game shape and with Gregory missing 14, odds are he won't be in proper shape in the *at best* 5 games we have remaining. And then he'll more than likely be suspended all of 2017 for missing a test.
I'm cynical about him, because if he was productive in 2015, outside of QB pressures, then you could at least believe we could get some production in the 5 games we hope to play in and in any post season run, but there's just no reason to believe this. IMO, Gregory more than anything needs the money and that's why he's likely in the shape he's in now. He hasn't gotten a pay check in about a year, and he doesn't seem like a responsible spender, odds are he'll get hurt, get placed on IR and be content to get paid from home for the remaining weeks.
