Cowboys QB Joe Milton on throwing the ball

It is a bit concerning when a professional quarterback does not understand that when the media and fans say he's throwing too hard they are not talking about "speed of the ball" but rather the trajectory of the ball.

To me the best example of quarterbacks who struggled with trajectory (aka: no touch) on their throws was Brandon Weeden.

Weeden could thread a needle when there was a straight line between him and the receiver.

What he could not do well was add touch to this throws so they would drop over defenders and into the hands of his receivers.

Weeden was a perfect example of a "line of sight" quarterback.

So far, Milton has been similar (not as bad as Weeden, but limited in much the same way) except Milton does not have the LOS accuracy that Weeden had.

Milton needs to work heavily on adding touch to his passes because if he could maintain both his arm strength and add touch to his throws, it would improve his game a lot.

So Joe, we've identified a weakness. We get it. You have a big arm. The issue is that not every play calls for a rocket. Sometimes a mortar over the top is just as, if not more effective. There is more film out there that you can watch in a lifetime displaying why touch passes are necessary at this level. Throwing out the "shouldn't be in the NFL" line is an admission that you have little to no desire to evolve your game and become a better player. This is a big problem for a developmental prospect that has looked horrible against backups.

I was born and blessed that way. If you think I’m throwing the ball hard, you shouldn’t be in the NFL.”

Is he talking about fans or players? Clearly, 99.9% of people on Social media are not NFL players or are former players.
So are players complaining or is he getting testy over X posts?

Hello Mcfly.......anyone in there. Just throw the dam ball so the receivers can catch it man!!!! Then go bless yourself in the unemployment line if you can't do that.

Maybe when he listens to the coaching staff that tells him it's not his hardball or his deep ball ,that's the problem ,he needs to learn how to change velocity, how to put arc and ball placement in his repertoire, he can't just be a one trick pony.....

So hopefully he'll learn that along the way that you can't just keep throwing the ball that way and that's the only way.....

Jeff George could break receivers hands or throw a ball through a brick wall but he had no touch to drop a ball over a linebacker in front of a safety...
And that's the comp that I usually use when people talk about how hard a guy can throw and they can throw the deep ball would be Jeff George but also Jamarcus Russell and Anthony Richardson types they're all going through this you either learn to have more options in your going game or you're going to be at the league pretty quick....

At least Jay Cutler was known as a strong arm guy, he had more game, and that would be probably Joe's ceiling is to be a guy like Cutler....

Sir it’s your accuracy

Idc how hard you throw it…..the ball is supposed to be in the field of play, not near me while I’m on the toilet
