OXNARD, Calif. — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won’t practice Saturday afternoon continues to be cautious returning from back surgery, coach Jason Garrett said.

The Cowboys will have their most-physical practice yet Saturday while working on goal-line drills and situational short-yardage work.

The Cowboys had Friday off. Romo just watched in the Saturday morning walk-through.

This is going to be a huge problem. The first time he gets hit Cowboys Nation is going to explode. It is frustrating to see the club make the strides it has made in bringing in talent, and at the same time refuse to have a plan in place for the future. This could be his final year. He's 34 and 2 back surgeries within a year. We've seen some reports that he doesn't have the zip on the ball he had. He's not practicing a lot at all. I'm sorry but if your not concerned you really should be.

I've closely watched him for the little bit he has practiced, and he's stiff, not fluid at all, looks like a 65 year old out there. Most fun I've had watching him in years.

Same story. Whatever it takes to ready on Sept 7th.

People seem to forget he's already working harder than almost everyone when you add in the 3-3 1/2 hours of work he puts in before every practice.

In the 4 sessions he's played in pads, he's completing nearly 70% of his passes and has hit several long balls. Yes, some of the throws look a bit soft, but plenty look very good at this extremely early stage.

Step away from the ledge.

Earlier this week he said he has 4-5 more years.

Everyone said he would be brought along slowly. He is. Now it's a big deal?
Romo and Drew Brees said the same day, they want to be still playing when they are 45. Yeah, and monkeys might fly out my butt.

Yeah, rehab for his back.

Of course he "works hard" nobody's ever said he doesn't. He tries hard too, so what?

You really believe 4-5 years?

We were told he would be full go for camp, then we were told he would be brought aong slowly now he needs multiple days off in a row?

We've seen the tweets about his passes not having a lot of zip on them.

Do you think in the next 4 weeks he's going to be 100%? And really ready to play in the opener? When I say final season I mean it from the stand point of him getting hit and being forced out from this back issue.

He's OLD. He's SLOW - never ran faster than a 5.0 40 anyway. He's stove up.

What is your point? Or are you just being a pecker for the heck of it?

The point was that he is already putting heavy work in and they wish to limit his throwing.
If other players were going 3 hours hard before practice each day, they may want to dial it back too.
His situation is unique.

It could be worse than he's saying, but nobody knows that and the high road is to take the man for his word.

I'm fine with him not playing in the scrimmage or 3 of the 4 preseason games.
His job is not to make us feel warm and fuzzy....it's to be ready for SF.

I have no clue how much longer he can or wants to play.

We were told he would be a full go for camp. That doesn't mean he would be participating in each and every practice.

We've also seen players like Witten talk about the extra zip he has on passes this summer.

I don't know if he will be 100% in 4 weeks. I do expect him to be ready for SF.

Here is more from the article:
This will be the third scheduled practice Romo hasn’t been a part of out of the eight practices the team has had in Oxnard. The Cowboys have had two off days out of the 10 days they’ve been in California. All told, Romo has practiced five five of the 10 days the Cowboys have been in training camp.

He is rehabbing his back. He is not "going hard."

Have you WATCHED him practice? He clearly almost needs a walker out there, looks like Bill Shatner.
