Their system is completely ridiculous and not based on any real facts.

For example, they say this:
Last week, I detailed some of the reasons why the Eagles are at No. 1 right now. Essentially, they have mixed three big wins and one gigantic win (over Pittsburgh) with four very close losses which have positive DVOA ratings because they came against the other good teams of the NFC East.
They beat the Browns (0-10), they beat the Bears (2-6), they beat the Vikings (5-3) and their GIGANTIC win was against the Steelers (4-4). They have beat ONE team with a winning record so far and that one team has lost 3 in a row including to the 2-6 Browns that we slaughtered.

Seriously? I cannot even begin to say how stupid their logic is. I'm literally speechless.

In fact, I should ban that site from CowboysZone. Just having it linked on this site lowers the quality of this site beyond belief.

All I can say is if I had created a system that put a 4-4 team that had not beat anyone significant at the top of the "best teams in the league" list, I would immediately start debugging my equation to figure out *** went wrong with it.

Margin-of-victory stats like these usually even out over the course of a season. But it's safe to say this one overvalues special teams and undervalues recent performance. No team that's 1-4 over its last 5 games should lead the NFL in anything.

I think FO has some good stuff. Their team rankings are a little odd though. I like their attempt at contextualizing stats but they seem to miss that somewhat because they're knocking Dallas in part for garbage scores by Cincy and Chicago.

i use them for per drive stats and random stats based articles. their opinion pieces are pretty laughable though

I think he just means a win with big DVOA numbers, not a good win against a quality opponent.

I still applaud their attempts and hope they keep trying, clearly some variables need to be adjusted and or added. Sadly I have seen little improvement from these guys the last couple of years. Very entertaining hearing their explanation for the Eagles being #1.
