Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar totals 100 receiving yards Week 3

Lance Dunbar led the Cowboys with 10 catches on 10 targets for 100 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He also carried the ball once for 5 yards.

Brandon Weeden made almost no effort to look downfield, confining himself to short routes and check-downs with Dunbar emerging as his favorite option. Expect the undersized back to remain a big part of the passing game as long as Weeden is under center.

Dunbar has become the security blanket while Witten has become the #1 and Beasley the #2. Not sure if that's the best formula but Weeden was afraid to throw to anyone else today.
I agree while some would suggest Weeden had a good game it seemed like he was hell bent getting the ball to Witten, and Dunbar and yes it's a team loss but after the first half Atlanta didn't respect him as a passer knowing he would nickel and dime them with shorter throws and played right into their hands thus shutting down the run and even if Dallas had the Seahawks defense with the offense pulling a disappearing act in the second half the Falcons would've shredded them too. They had better come up with more deep shots down the field and Weeden doesn't even has to complete the pass just send the defenses a statement we're not tolerating those stacked boxes this is going to be a interesting stretch that is for sure.

If anyone playes draftkings or fanduel, Dunbar is a must start while Weeden is the QB.

Well maybe we have another tool to help Romo when hes back. With a QB that can throw it more than 5 yards down field, those 5 yard dump offs to the safety valve will become effective again. When Dez gets back and we have a deep threat again, it will become even more effective. Looking good for the future, wont help Weeden at this point. File this away for future use I suppose.

Great for Dunbar - kudos for him.

Good for the team? I'm not so sure.

It can be
But you also have to mix in some deeper stuff
Don't have to throw 30 yard passes every down but just mix in some stuff a bit deeper down field and take a few shots at deep stuff
You got to keep the defense defending the entire field and then the short stuff will continue to move the chains

Well I guess Dallas will spend the week trying to decide who is the best QB to go with next week. I sure hope they pick the right one !! :)

Ive seen enough of Weeden. He may progress a little with some game time, but what is this guys ceiling?

IIWM ? If Cassell shows me anything, anything at all that, tells me he is ready to start, .....I start him.

The irony lies in the fact the more we have a downfield threat - the more effective and dangerous Dunbar becomes because he won't have as much traffic to get through.

Why didn't Dunbar run down the field like he did twice against Philly?

Apparently the more I have been reading, and from Jerry's comments, is Weeds was told not to go down field. What???

Sturm said Tony is the only QB allowed to throw down field. There were two plays called for Weeden to do so, the overthrow to Witten, and a play that was supposed to go downfield to Williams or Street, but Beard got blown up forcing Weeden from the pocket where he proceeded to throw the pick.

Can we just trade for Aaron Rogers yet? Think they take Butler and Lucky straight up?
