Why? Every team has to have special teams guys.
IN todays NFL, kickoffs go through the endzone, Goodwin offers nothing other than special teams, he's too slow to play corner so you're essentially using a valuable game day roster spot for a one trick pony in the off instance that a punt is returned and not fair caught...Use that roster spot for a player that can actually play defense, there's plenty of young drafted players that can do that..

Another one year deal for a good role player. I like it.

Why?

He is so overrated by this franchise and fanbase.

I'm not saying he is awful but he's nothing special. Older, more expensive player who people act like he's an actual force on ST. He's a JAG.

You refuse to see the forest for the trees, don't you?
I think you are lost in the forest you've created in your head

It's not remotely unusual for role players and/or special teamers to get a 1 year contract. If you want to cite something unusual, actually find something unusual.

And sure, Kendricks only got a 1 year contract as well, but that 1 year is no different than the 1 year San Francisco was also going to give him before he changed his mind and came to Dallas. Sometimes teams just find temporary plug ins. Dallas has done it before. Hankins. Edoga. Hilton. Kearse in 2021. Anthony Barr. Keanu Neal ... Not every player can get a big, multi year deal

What about the QBs 1 year deal and all the coaches?

Just a coincidence?

One of the best special teams players in the league.

For whatever reason it seems like he's been getting these one year deals to stay here forever.

Starting to think this is what Jerry really meant by "all-in". As in, they are running it back this year with everyone in an attempt to go all-in for the Super Bowl, and if that fails, look for a rebuild in 2025.

Of course, it's Jerry, so who am I to try and make sense of anything he says or does.

I don't have a problem with this signing. I'm sure that got him for cheap.

The QB isn't in a 1 year deal, he is in the last year of a multi year deal. And both the team and Dak have indicated a desire to work out something. Who knows if they will, but Dak has played a one year "prove it" season before. Maybe that will happen again.

As for the coaches, it appears the team may want a "prove it:" year from them. That has seemed pretty obvious for a couple of months now

Thinking the samething these one year deals are for a reason
Of course they are for a reason. Every team has some on one year deals. Not everyone can get a big, multi year deal. Salary cap won't allow it.

Nah, it's perfectly normal to hire a new defensive coordinator for one year.

Truth be told though, Zim probably just got a one year DC deal. I'm sure the 5 year HC deal will probably happen next January.
