Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign QB Will Grier

The quarterback contract pie room is a little lean with how much can be shared.

Will is familiar with the current system and cost effective.

This is a major step forward in the Cowboys proactively handling their contract business. I just wonder if he'll receive a legit backup QB competition tryout.

This has the makings of another incredible quarterback room along with added major cultural stuff here.

Go Schotty, go Cowboys!

i hate how Dallas handles the backup QB position. As Dak gets a little older, he is more likely to maybe miss a game here or there. Perfectly understandable and I think expected. IMO it should go like this:

1. Dak
2. A veteran that has had some starting experience but is content as a backup.
trubisky, tyrod taylor, mariota are FA's i think.
3. a development guy like Milton.

what purpose does will grier serve? he will be 31 when the season starts. he has played in 2 nfl games and they were 6 or 7 yrs ago. And im not interested in hearing that he looked good in a couple select pre season games.

That's probably a camp arm contract, right? How much did they pay him? Anyways, I don't think that rules out bringing someone else in.

Never mind it because if Dak gets hurt I’m perfectly fine losing. Now if it’s for a game or two I should be able to rely on Milton. If not he doesn’t need to be here.

Sleep it off and try again tomorrow.

To me, this signing suggests that the Cowboys staff has a hunch that Joe Milton might not be their best backup. Grier appears to be a possible safety net for them if Milton doesn't fit the bill this year. There's no harm in keeping their options open, in case a competent backup QB may possibly be required.

All-In babyyy!

Finally.

I knew i could trust Jerry.

Eat this haters.

GO JONESES!!!!

Well, that takes care of number two and number three. Who's gonna be number one?

Dont get it. He's a progress stopper. Should sign a development prospect instead.

Well of what player exactly is he stopping his development?

For 25 years now the Joneses have invested zip into the QB position. Not 1 higher draft pick to find a talented QB with whom you could run into the danger to stop his development by a subpar player.

And until that happens Grier is a cheap and good fallback solution you can always cut in case you find someone better.

This is just covering bases so you dont feel too much pressing needs come FA and the draft.

Jokes aside:

Grier was signed to a "futures" deal, which is common for players that spent the previous season on the practice squad.

And there is zero salary cap implications because in the offseason, only the top 51 players' salaries count. Grier is getting the NFL minimum.

I guess there goes the Pickens $$$$$$. Fangio will now have no choice but to stay in Filthy

Some of you need to quit the chirping and sniping at each other.

I got a WVU player on the roster and he has a glorious beard and some of you are going at each other. Why do some people hate America.
