Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign S Markquese Bell

Are fans need help.

Bell actually played really well for a 205 lbs linebacker in 2023 under Quinn. He just eventually wore down. I do think his future is a safety and as a nickel LB in down/distance formations.

I don’t think people are down on Bell

The doom and gloom is that 31 other teams are about to get better today. Meanwhile, our ownership will say “we have limited cap and Osa and Bell took up all of it! See you in April”

Have you seen his stats from 2023? He only started 8 games but played 649 snaps, 94 tackles. Do the math, subtract 10/20% ( special team ) and you will see how well he played. I'm pretty sure he was one of our top 3 run defenders. BUT, for whatever reason didn't fit Zimm's scheme or Zimm just didn't like him coz "last year" he didn't start one game. Eberflus runs a system similar to Quinn. So it's no surprise he would wanna keep Bell.
Bottom line IMO.......this is an excellent signing coz he's way better than Wilson IMO.

Agree although late in 2023 year he was a liability and pushed around and sealed off too easily because he was too small to play LBer, but at safety that wouldn't be the case. My point was more play the kids not that this was a bad signing. Cut Wilson ($7M savings post 6/1) and/or Hooker (almost $6M savings post 6/1) immediately. Sign a better safety with the savings and/or take one of the top 2 in the draft at #12 IF (stressing if) you love them enough. Or play whomever you like the most between Bell and Thomas or whomever. But paying Bell to sit the bench behind Wilson isn't the answer. We just continue to run the same people out there and then are surprised when the late season disappointing results are the same as well.

Based on spotrac, this would be the offseason the cut Wilson:

Yea.........how can we forget Packers QB ( Love ) telling Parsons we had a safety playing LBer during the playoff loss? He was forced to play (LBer ) coz we lost like 2-3 starters to injuries but of course his true position is SS. I am looking forward to seeing him challenge for a starting position.

He sucks......Too small to play LBer......too slow to cover as a SS. It's these types of moves that keep us in salary cap hell.....and we suck. Now watch us depend on the guy thinking our problems @ LBer are now solved. Bolton and Ernest Jones sign deals.....we panic.

Such a Stephen over pay.....
Not too slow.

Markquese Bell, a defensive back from Florida A&M, ran the 40-yard dash at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine with a time of 4.41 seconds.

Just a reminder,

Donovan Wilson's 40-yard dash time in college was 4.85 seconds.

I know hes slow, but I forgot just how slow. And Im pretty sure he hasnt gotten any faster since then.

He need to go.

I thought they would have just tendered him. This price isn't bad though. If they are extending him they will probably cut Wilson.
I like this. We usually tender players but that generally ends up costing you. A deal today is gonna be cheaper than a deal a year from now if player keeps playing well. You have to be right but big savings when you get it right

UMM OSA, Bell, Thomas, Hoffman, Wheat, Goodwin so dfar..yes alot of work to do and BTW getting better isnt JUDST day 1 of FA..lmao..its bulet all the eay until the trade deadline ,

guys!? the drafts not even truly close game 1 is sepember. lets cjill on the DC being left behind..

getting beter huh ?!

you do realize and I try to say this every year because sometimes common sense gets lost in here,

every one of those transactions that you heard over the last couple of days some of these trades which by the way were players that weren't going to fit here anyway this was like a delusional group thinking that we can add a 32 to $35 million number two wide receiver or DE, to go along with lamb/MP.. The Cowboys need to find those replacements probably in the draft or a younger player you know like some of the other teams they have Justin Jefferson but then they have Addison addison's not $32 million I don't know any team that has two defensive ends that both make 30 to $40 million this is not how the salary cap works so anybody who thought this was even possible and now we lost out are ridiculous the fact is some teams are making parallel moves they lost Cooper cup he's leaving so they had to replace him with Adams what is Adams done in this league truly does he have a ring that he changed the Raiders did he change The Jets'cause I remember at the trade deadline everyone talking about how The Jets did everything they could to get better they didn't get better Adams did not help The Jets get better amari Cooper did not help Buffalo get better a lot of those other trades they didn't elevate their team yes it's great they made a move but on paper it looked great but in the end results are the only thing that matters and it did not work out...
But the point is most of these teams had holes needing to be filled for #1 spots so these receivers are feeling in need and I'm betting even in Pittsburgh that DK coming in means Pickens isn't getting paid there he may even be traded before the season starts or by the trade deadline they're growing tired of him and having both those two dudes on the same team that'd be like having 2 Terrell Owens on the same team I don't think long term that's their plan so they're making one move at wide receiver because they plan on making another they're still only gonna have pretty much one dominant player making that kind of money..
but all these dudes came from somewhere, right?
these teams all have giant holes to fill these big-name losses,
now every one of these teams who lost these players are now weak, So, one team may have looked on paper to get better, but another one got weaker.... it's a complete balance in the end not a whole lot changes, you have some teams that got worse, some got better, but they were in the opposite positions before all this started it's not like 31 teams all got better and just the Cowboys haven't done enough three hours before the league year starts officially with like 5+ months left to go before the season starts. lmao.

It's an odd signing. He pretty much sucks. Classic tweener.
Yanking a safety from there and putting him at LB will make a player suck.

He did okay the year before at safety, if he gets back to safety I'll be interested as to how he does. Good potential imho.
