Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign Sam Williams

Sam is worth $3 million. That's not saying much but he's worth $3 million.
No he's not.....He's the dumbest player in the NFL. I thought we were done letting this front office make stupid impulse decisions...and let Parker build his defense.

So much for this fresh start..... :banghead:

It's just more of the Jerry meddling that has stained this franchise for the last 30 years.....

Hell....Why not go get Clowney?????? @ least he played hard!!!!

I have always believed that players who were drafted for their “potential” as a “project” should have 3-4 years to develop.

Sam Williams has had 4 years to show us something. He has never shown anything more than “potential”.

As the late great Darryl Royal once said, “Potential just means they ain’t done it yet.”

Thumbs down on this one.
I tend to disagree. He had 3 bad DC’s in just as many years.
I want to see what Parker can do with him.
Worth the low cap hit. And does not mean he will make the team. He is depth for now.

I agree, it's a no risk deal. I just think it could have waited until they got a real off-ball LB or more secondary help.

Williams would have been around to re-sign later. The timing makes me think they are done at edge because reports today said they wouldn't double down spending there after getting Gary.
Oh, they will add another edge. They probably get 1 in the draft.

Sam Williams, the ball is in your court.

Prove us all wrong. I would love nothing more than to eat my words and see Williams finally break out under Parker and Jordan.

That chart with EZ at the bottom probably shows he hurt his hip around the KC game. Because he was probably the top graded edge on the team prior.
Yep....his last 4 games were significantly lower than the others with the exception of one game. There probably is an explanation for that.

I like this. I still think he has a little something to contribute. Yes he needs to be more disciplined. Will wait and see what happens.

I think Parker had a lot of influence on this.

I would have been fine if they moved on as well.

1 year deal. Likely a tiny guarantee.

This is "show us something in TC and pre-season" money.

I do think he's going to be better as a 3-4 OLB (not that it is really any different from our five-man fronts last year).

I wouldn't complain about this. It makes you sound stupid.

I had a feeling Sam Williams would be back. I think the new scheme could help him.

So we lost DE Armstrong, DT/DE Golston, Micah and Kneeland, so we should just get rid of another, so we have no defensive ends of this team? Sam Williams should be told, you better perform and act wisely. You will be on a short leash.

Not a bad signing. Sam was terrible last season but he has the individual talent to possibly remake his career as a 3-4 OLB.

Maybe moving to OLB in the 3-4 helps him? He crashed inside so often as a 4-3 end but now he'll be lining up wider off the offensive tackle.

If the Cowboys just ask him to straight up rush the passer maybe he can still be useful.

(yes, I am trying to justify the signing)
Once this guy is engaged with a block, it's game over on most plays. I don't get it.
