Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign TE Hanna 3 year deal $8.25 m

Hanna's speed appears to be straight line.

Ask him to move and be nifty in space, arms and legs are everywhere.

He has been smart enough to develop the blocking aspect of his game because that was his best shot.

I don't think there is some special threat that can be unleashed with him by adjusting his route tree.

So we resigned him to be the blocking TE?

So what does that mean for the Geoff Swaim trade?

Flush that mindset. You should be thinking about the next starter. Witten can't move anymore and it's only going to get worse from here.

I agree, and Henry fits the bill. WE all know though, Dallas isn't proactive. So unless Witten got hurt before the draft somehow, we aren't drafting a TE

We act like late round draft picks or UDFAs can't become stars in this league. Hanna is an excellent blocker, has excellent speed, and showed a little something as a receiver early in his career. We are we not trying to turn him into an all-around TE?

Cowboys ought to just close up shop right now when it comes to free agency.

A+ Baby!

Hannah is coming back? Great.

I wonder how Whitten feels about this.

Combine numbers

Hanna
6'4", 33 1/8" arms, 252 lbs, 9 7/8" hands, 4.49 40, 36" vertical, 122" broad jump, 6.76 3-cone, 4.11 20-yard shuttle, 11.43 60-yard shuttle

Escobar
6'6", 33 5/8" arms, 254 lbs, 9 3/4" hands, 4.84 40, 32" vertical, 114" broad jump, 7.07 3-cone, 4.31 20-yard shuttle, 11.86 60-yard shuttle

Hanna is better in every physical category, is a far better blocker, and is probably as good a receiver.

I don't dislike Hannah but it seems he kind of is what he is. I think he could probably play a bigger role but he doesn't really excel in any particular area.

Good move. The Vikings and Chargers were showing interest; and now Dallas has it's blocking TE. The Cowboys are being smart in free agency; using it to patch holes.

Championship teams are built; not bought.

Maybe we will (after Witten retires). Hanna has shown flashes and has skills/traits good enough to become a decent receiver but with Witten in play, doubt he really gets the chance to be the main receiving threat TE for awhile.

I believe if Witten were to retire, Hanna would become a pretty good all around TE for us. He just won't have that chance IMO.

I think keeping Hanna was more of a slight towards Escobar than Swaim. Garrett says Swaim has qualities of a "complete" tight end; whereas Hanna has more or less proved to be just a blocker. Maybe this just gives them more time to develop Swaim.
