Cowboys Ready To Go Vertical Against Saints?

...The Ryan philosophy lends itself to an offense that can throw the ball down field, as long as the offensive line can keep the passer on his feet long enough to make throws. Brandon Weeden does have the arm to take advantage of the opportunity. The Cowboys also have the talent on the offensive line to allow him the time. For Dallas this is going to boil down to simple execution.

There have been struggles up front for the Cowboys offense this season. Bob Sturm threw out the challenge this week, The line's performance is unacceptable and that must change immediately, both in running and passing situations. They are going to have to live up to expectations.

It is easier to blame a backup QB than it is to ask your 1st round picks what their deal is, but the fact is there have been too many blown blocks and penalties from this group to be throwing roses at their feet when the offense has stuttered in September. Sure, Dez Bryant and Tony Romo would be a great quick fix, but if everything in this offense is built on the strong foundation of this front, then let's see it.

If the line can get itself together, then the Cowboys have a chance in this game. Given time Weeden can cash in on the opportunities that New Orleans will give him to fulfill his statement made to the media.

If we got a drop-back pass with four verticals and a comeback, if they’re there, I’m going to rip them,"...

I think that is the view of what winning would require at this point.

I'm of the opinion, that for Weeden, his team would first have to lead him to glory. Not the other way around.

To this fan, he is like the patron going into a grocery store and suddenly starts to talk a lot of crap and quickly starts to blame others for the mess that he just created.

He is more of a passive leader, that functions on his level instead of creating with daring and wit.

He has talent, but I hope that with what is left on the field at present, that the coaches can create stability from this chaos.

The words from Valley Ranch is always filled with wisdoms, not let's see if they can get some of it to start working on the carpet in real time.

If this new view doesn't start measuring up, then the newly added quarterback, Cassell, will come into the picture as well as another top placed receiver added in the off season.

On a grand scale, I just don't buy into a Camelot scenario...

and the reality for right now is, that the two leading receivers for this quarterback are Jason Witten and Lance Dunbar, a tight end and running back. That, folks, isn't a very attractive picture.

How the hell do you go vertical with a QB that can't throw the ball more than 10 yards without it being picked?

So check down Charlie is going to start throwing bombs down the field?

LOL..........this ought to be good

There's very little doubt we'll go vertical more in this game. The question will be more how Weeden deals with the multiple disguised fronts.

But the Saints defense isn't all that good. There should be plays to be made. Just hang onto the ball, don't make any stupid throws, run block, and no penalties or getting the ball stripped, and I'll be ok. I don't need or want Weeden throwing it more than 25 times. Oh, and it'd be nice if our defense made the trip to NOLA this week, too. We missed them last week.

I dont care how this team wins we just need W's right now.
This team is fortunate to have CM, and D-Mac, Randle and Dunbar.
Thats a nice healthy stable of backs for the moment, and this team needs all the help it can get, so lets just pound the rock, and work the play action with Weeden on a few well timed
deep shots.
Pound the rock
Take your shots downfield
We have to get the WRs involved for this team to win,, lets get back to plan A,, it worked just fine last year.

That Saints game where the Saints set a record for most first downs comes to mind. I doubt anything will land at Garretts feet tho.

I think if Dallas is willing to open up the offense more for Weeden and given the Saints defensive schemes that Weeden is more than capable of attacking it.

Weeden can do two things: check it down and chunk it deep.

So yeah.

It's the intermediate stuff and reads that throw him for a loop.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I fully expect another game similar to the Falcons performance and then after the game they'll tell us that the all the dinks and dunks were what the D was giving us.

I want to be wrong.

Brandon Weeden is our starter. I just keep saying that over and over.
