Cowboys really need to use this draft to change their identity

They can work towards an identity all they want but at the end of the day they should be focused on building a talented roster.

Cooper is one of the best and most consistent WRs in football and Daks numbers are always better when he was on the field. Letting him walk was a very poor decision IMO.

Pro Sports 101: When a player publicly calls out the coaching staff or teammates, it's time to move on from that player.

Belichick trades or cuts those types of players.
- In 2013 All-Pro OG Logan Mankins made public comments criticizing the team.
- In 2014 Belichick traded him for a backup TE and a 4th round pick.

All for trading back if a deal presents itself. I would target Jones or Smith in a trade back
Trade down near the bottom of the 1st and draft one of them.
- Use the pick or pick acquired plus the Cowboys own 2nd and a 5th to move up to the very early 2nd and draft the other one.
- Then drop the mic and go home.

People were already questioning if he was a true #1 receiver even before Lamb was drafted. Outside of a few home divisional games, can you even remember a big performance from him in a big game?

But you dodged my point…if the OC isn’t going to generate high targets and touches for the WR1 to give them a chance to put up big numbers it isn’t 100% the players fault.

And now the team is talking about drafting a WR at 24 that will also suffer from the same problem which makes it even more ridiculous.

That is exactly what I would try to do, it would really strengthen our trenches.

Before teams were scheming to take away the Cowboys passing offense, he still wasn't producing big numbers, especially on the road. I agree, that Moore is part of the problem, but cannot give Cooper a free pass, either.

We heard last yr that after losses that they weren't physical enough and were dominated inside the trenches on both sides of the football, they weren't mentally tough and struggled playing from behind. It ultimately did them in against probably the most physical team in the NFL with the 49ers.

I don't think it's a coincidence that they traded Amari Cooper who many question if he is an alpha receiver, released Collins who had questionable decisions off the field and allowing Connor Williams to walk, the same player who had the most holding penalties in the entire league, even missing a few starts after his benching.

This team has to use this draft to change their identity of become more physically and mentally tough. They need to target those so called dogs who love the game and want to dominate.

I know many dislike Burks, but he fits that profile, So does Tyler Smith who generated the most pancake blocks in the entire nation. Travis Jones destroyed all the top competition at the senior bowl and people took notice. Sam Williams has that desire to be great! Find a darn TE who actually likes to block, a Linebacker who initiates physical contact.
Man if we don't draft to upgrade the Offensive Line our season is over before it starts...

You ask for toughness and then want a WR? Odd.

I don't necessarily agree but Cowboys insider Bobby Belt likes him better than Lamb.

Lamb is a good player but he certainly has fallen short from what I thought he would be. Burks is an intriguing player. He’s a worthy prospect and taking him at 24 is right about where he is expected to go. Much better prospect then some here would have you believe.

Good thought but the problem is that you can’t change the physicality in a team by drafting dogs without altering its culture. Culture is defined by GM, HC, and QB. Drafting dogs is just window dressing. Within 2 years they will become the entitled soft players we currently have no matter who you draft

I've quit trying to figure out where players should be picked. Lance Z has burks ranked at 12 just below Wilson but it will depend on the teams making the picks.

NT Travis Jones
OL Tyler Smith
LB Leo Chenal
ED Sam Williams

Ideal first 4 picks.

That is an immediate upgrade in the middle of the trenches, physically, athletically and MENTALLY.

Love all 4 on this list, but 2 of them might be 1st rd selections in Smith and Jones.
