Yeah yeah....just having a bit of fun....our drafting has been very solid
I mean I agree though the 2nd round is a mess but when you actually spell it out it's not nearly as bad as you think for some reason lol. I think it's because of the misses and they were pretty obvious misses even at the time of drafting is what hurts.

That's because Dak is turning them down. HE turned down last year.
Prescott did not "turn down" the Pro Bowl - last year - or any other year.
He was selected twice - for his 2016 rookie season, when he was one of the two reserves (behind the starter), then following his third year in 2018 as an alternate, when the selected starting QB Drew Brees opted out of participating due to injury.
Perhaps you're getting confused about a player receiving Pro Bowl honors - but not participating in events days before the game and the game itself.
Every year a number of players selected to the Pro Bowl don't go to the event. The two main reasons are:
1) The player with his team just participated in the Super Bowl;
2) The player declined because of injury(ies) that occurred toward the end of the season.
That is why Pro Bowl Alternates are voted on (by players only) after the official Pro Bowl teams for each conference have been announced -- these alternates will go to the event in place of the players who opted out (usually for the two reasons stated above).
Players that are selected to be on the Pro Bowl team are still Pro Bowl "honored" even though they do not go to the festivities and game.

Getting a pro bowler in the 4th round ever is impressive…let alone 3x in a relatively short amount of time

Here is a list of the Cowboys 4th round picks since 2012
  • LB Kyle Wilbur (12) - heavy contributor on Cowboys defense as rotation backup and special teams player for 6 seasons, plus 4 more seasons for the Raiders
  • S Matt Johnson (12) - bust due to repeated injuries over 3 seasons never played a down in the NFL
  • CB B.W. Webb (13) - 6 seasons for 6 different teams, plus 3 more seasons on practice squads - never made an impact
  • LB Anthony Hitchens (14) - 4 seasons with Cowboys - 3 as a starter, signed premium free agent contract with Chiefs and was starter in Super Bowl LIV
  • LB Damien Wilson (15) - 4 seasons with Cowboys - 4 more seasons as backup player in Super Bowl LIV for Chiefs, played for Jaguars and Panthers, currently a free agent.
  • DE Charles Tapper (16) - played only 2 seasons buried on depth chart in Dallas.
  • QB Dak Prescott (16) - 8 seasons with Cowboys, current starting QB, Offensive Rookie of the year, 2x Pro Bowl player
  • WR Ryan Switzer (17) - 5 year career, primarily as a kick & punt returner for 3 different teams
  • DE Dorance Armstrong (18) - Starter at RDE when Parsons plays LB, breakout season in '22 with 8.5 sacks
  • TE Dalton Schultz (18) - Starter at TE, Cowboys used Franchise tag to keep him in '22, now starter for Texans
  • RB Tony Pollard (19) - Will start in '23 for Cowboys, who used '23 Franchise tag to keep him. 1x Pro Bowl for 2022 season
  • CB Reggie Robinson (20) - two seasons buried on the depth chart in Dallas
  • C Tyler Biadasz (20) - will start 4th year for Cowboys in '23. 1x Pro Bowl for 2022 season
  • LB Jabril Cox (21) - rookie season lost to injury, currently buried on the depth chart
  • OT Josh Ball (21) - rookie season lost to injury, now being used as back-up Right Guard after washing out as a Tackle.
  • TE Jake Ferguson (22) - started 8 games in his rookie season, currently TE1 on the depth chart in his 2nd season.
  • DL Viliami (Junior) Fehoko (23) - rookie DE being converted to possible 3-tech pass rushing DT specialist. Too early to judge
In the past 12 drafts, the Cowboys have drafted 9 players who became starters for the Cowboys, and 3 players who became Pro Bowl players. That is a high, high hit rate for the 4th round.
Thanks for the research my friend.

All you had to do was a simple google search......

But there was talk of another Cowboys alternate, too. Quarterback Dak Prescott reportedly turned down the chance to play in his third Pro Bowl, in order to give himself a head-start on a full offseason of rest.

I stand corrected for the 2022 Pro Bowl; what other season did he turn down being considered for the alternate role?

But the big picture is -- Prescott has been selected to the Pro Bowl team outright once (following his rookie season), and as an alternate once -following 2018.
Turning down an alternate role as an injury replacement - usually with two other candidates selected also -- big difference.
