Option A - Hire Scott Paoli as GM. Offer him a 3 year deal, total control and check he simply will not refuse to cash.
For those who believe he would not come here, your nuts. This is the league's premier franchise. The roster is loaded and with complete control Paoli could get this turned around in a heart beat.
This is the best option for a million reasons, but let's forget it cause it aint happening.
OMT- I believe Jerry's done a great job these past 2 years, but Paoli's still a huge upgrade and the hire would be an enormous credibility move.
Option B (since we're not hiring a GM or changing our HC)
1) Tap into the substantial coaching pool that just hit the streets. You mean to tell me we can't bring in 1-2 offensive and defensive assitants and a special teams coach who would be an upgrade?
Neither Mangini nor Crennel is about to get a HC position this year, we can't bring them in to run our 3-4 under Wade? You mean Wade wouldn't think one of these two would be a good fit as well as an upgrade over Stewart?
How about Shanahan to replace Garrett? Or even better, how about he comes in for a year as a consultant to help Garrett? This would not be the first time its happened. Fassel took a consultant job with the Ravens after he was fired. Shanahan did want Romo. Maybe he like to work with him.
Either way, even if we don't hire a new OC or DC. We need to upgrade our staff. There must be plaenty of good candidates availible.
We need to change the culture of this team. Enough good credible coaching hires can accomplish this.
A softer kinder HC can work with enough tough task masters working under him. We need to make the change thier.
