Cowboys run defense today

Dalvin Cook ran at 6.5 yards per carry so I'm not sure we can put to bed the run problems. We did enough early though and combined with the pass rush defense and Diggs in coverage on Jefferson and the defense overall was more than good enough.

Previous four games:

Eagles___136 yds

Lions___117 yds

Bears___240 yds

Packers___207 yds

Vikings___73 yds -- Darwin Cook 11 carries for 72 yds, with 17 on one carry

Facing Saquon and QB Jones Thursday -- keep up the turnaMuchround.

Much improved

There was improvement statistically but still some things to clean up. The Cowboys were able to force the Vikings into catch-up mode today so Cook was a non-factor. Just like all the other recent opponents Minnesota had success running to the outside.

Minny did ok at best, when it counted. We didn't dominate the run, but we got them to 3rd down and off the field.

That's as good as this defense will get. We earned the privilege of rushing the qb.

Improvement in game however on paper he still averaged 6.5ypc. Game got away from them to fast to establish a run game. Unless the offense can do that every week it's more of an outlier.

He also had (2) 10+ runs called back. Granted this happens to every rb

But regarding Cook, some of those runs may have come in long down distance like 1st and 15 or 2nd and 20.
I don’t know. But from watching the game it never seemed like we were vulnerable to their run game so I’m guessing that may be the case.

Wouldn't say the run game is fixed, but this was a huge improvement. Yards per carry are deceiving as a few nice gainers got mixed in when the Vikings were falling behind and defense was playing to defend the pass. It was nice to play with a lead though it made the Vikings one dimensional.

The lack of a mobile QB probably made a huge difference today. I'm not quick to think they solved that problem, but I hope so.
