Teams that are able to grind it out in the tough months have to be able to move the football on the ground, particularly pushing for the postseason.

The last couple of seasons, we attempted to be an air-it-out offense and it kind of bit us at the end of the year. This year, we're tearing it up on the ground and playing serviceably in the air. To look at how we're doing on the ground compared to the NFC...have a look:

10. Marion Barber: 58 car for 297 yards, 5.1 ypc, 74.2 ypg
18. Tashard Choice: 44 car for 225 yards, 5.1 ypc, 45.0 ypg
19. Felix Jones: 21 car for 212 yards, 10.1 ypc, 70.7 ypg

Overall, we've got the #3 rushing offense in the NFL averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 161 yards per game, trailing only the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins; as we all know Thomas Jones exploded for 200+ yards yesterday.

Not bad at all...

To contrast with our rushing attack, the Atlanta Falcons rank 23rd against the run, giving up just over 118 yards per game on the ground.

I'd run the ball until the team average goes below 3.5 yards per carry. We dominate on the ground, especially out of the 22 set.
