Cowboys have scored 124 points in 4 games, averaging 31 ppg.

Offense
  • 8 touchdowns - 48 points
Defense - 18 points
  • 3 touchdowns - 18 points
Special Teams - 58 points
  • 1 touchdown - 6 points (missed extra point)
  • 13 field goals - 39 points
  • 2 two-point conversions - 4 points
  • 9 PAT kicks - 9 points
The Cowboys Redzone conversion rate is pretty pathetic. They've had 21 offensive scoring drives, which potentially could have led to 148 points. They've only converted 8 of their offensive scoring drives into touchdowns, leaving 52 points on the table. They have to get this fixed soon. No excuses.

The offense is only scoring 12 ppg. The defense is scoring 4.5 ppg. The special teams are scoring 14.5 ppg.
I would change this analysis. FG unit may be special teams but the offense gets the credit. I would also add some note about short fields, sometimes the offense scores mainly because a turnover gave them a short field. These reasons are why yards are the official gauge of offense and defense. Cowboys are 12th in yards and 15th in yards per play

Just for reference - the Bears and Colts have scored more offensive TDs (9) than the Cowboys (8).

That's how pedestrian this offense has been
LOL.......so now FG's dont count?

Hilarious all the things that some of you will make up in your head to push your agenda.

BWAAAAAA!!!! So now FG's arent an offensive stat?

Your little chart has been rendered irrelevant, biased, and useless.

Stats are for losers are they not? Or so we heard when the Cowboys were the #1 scoring offense in football.

Wins, wins, wins is all that matters right? 3-1 doesnt count anymore. Heck scoring lots of points doenst even count anymore. LOL

Its ONLY about how many TD's ONLY the offense has scored. FG's dont count. :lmao::lmao2::lmao::lmao::laugh:

Troll logic at its finest. You trolls are really having to get creative these days with all the blowout wins.

To count a fg ad a special teams scoring play isn’t corrrxt lol. The offense put the team in position for the fg not STs.

Point remains. Offense in red zone needs to improve.
So special teams gets credit for all the drives that out them in FG position? Nice lol
Yeah his/her/them math aint mathin lol
The OP accessed what unit actually puts points on the board - not how the scoring opportunies were created.
It is a special teams unit that comes in and attempts XPs and FGs. The makes are credited to them...just like the misses will go against them.
Any opponent's punt and KO returns for TDs...those scores will be recorded as going against those special team units.
Same with blocked punts and FGs returned for touchdowns ‐ those "negative" scores count against the specific team units.

Yeah that isn’t the same at all , nice try but that isn’t how it works.

Explain how it isn't.
In a general sense, the Cowboys / any NFL team is credited with the overall score at game's end.
The OP broke it down to actually how the points were scored by different units during the game.

Looked like the RZ offense looked a little better against the Pets.

This analysis is about TDs anyway - FGs won't win championships, you need TDs. I can pretty much guarantee that no recent SB winner has averaged just 2 offensive TDs per game, which is what the Cowboys are on pace for. That's why there's a concept of "Bend But Don't Break" Defense - opposing teams will continue to emphasize this against the Cowboys until they can start punching it in. Like Arizona's gameplan - you can allow the Cowboys offense to move the ball but if you can tighten up and just allow FGs most of the time, you will have a chance to beat Dallas.

We are middle of the pack after 4 games. On a side note, the defense has been good but keep in mind that the teams they have beaten are also among the worst scoring offenses in the league. The only competent offense that they have faced so far is Arizona and they got whooped. Next 2 games vs. the 49ers and Chargers will really show how good this defense is.

*Seahawks and Giants still play tonight so their totals will most likely increase.

The point is that the Cowboys’ offense is putting too much stress on the defense and special teams. They need to be averaging at least 3 TD’s per game.

The good news is the Cowboys offense has had 21 scoring drives in 4 games. That is over 5 scoring drives per game. But they should be converting on at least 60% of this drives into touchdowns. If they had, the Cowboys would have 13 TD’s and 8 field goals. They are exactly the reverse.

The Cowboys had 4 scoring drives against the Cardinals. If those had been TD drives, it would have been 28-28 at the end of regulation, and they would’ve had the chance to win in overtime, like the Eagles did yesterday against the surprisingly good Commanders.

I think the red zone issues are a coaching and scheme issue. This one is on McCarthy. He has to figure out how to use the talent he has better. Maybe Jalen Brooks can be a red zone scoring threat. They need more than just the tight ends. Right now, they are too predictable. And the schemes aren’t getting guys open in the passing game. The blocking schemes are suspect also. Too many times, Dak is being sacked, or the running back is getting stuffed.
