Cowboys Scout "QB Interest Is Sincere"

I wouldn't have a problem with it at all if it's Newton. But I think he'll be long gone by then.

And that scout doesn't really have the say. Only one man does. And I doubt he wants to pass on a top defensive player or OT.

I don't mind a franchise QB if they think there's one there, either. But I don't agree that only one man has any say in who we pick. Not by a long shot.

I want no part of Cam Newton.

Every year, some scouts/coaches are blinded by athletic talent. Listen to this guy. Hear the things he says. Look at the wake he leaves wherever he goes. Way too much baggage.

What could go wrong?

I wonder what he meant by saying that they knew they blew it last year.

The season.

He made a point that I had issues with but he said that they are a top 10 team picking with the bottom 10 of the league.

A lot of blame for Aaron Rodgers drop was likely due to the Jeff Tedford effect. Tedford had coached a lot of successful college QBs that didn't amount to much in the pros (Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, Kyle Boller, David Carr, Joey Harrington).

Much of the talk at the time was that Rodgers was just another product of Tedford's system.

Hahaha ole dude reefers to himself in third person

well I think this is a blowin smoke up your arse

do you think either Newton or Gabbert are Franchise QB's

I don't IMO

don't even want to see Newton any place close to Valley Ranch - I hope he a nice stay at Buffalo

I think this is more on the way they do things

after the lousy year draft the scouts had last year

I think Jerry told them you better do a much better job this year or your outta here

Interesting. Can't say I disagree with the logic either.

Smoke or not that's the key phrase. All we have is opinions. If the scouts reports back that they feel they are and Jason feels they are and Jerry feels they are it dont matter what we think.

Agreed.

I want a QB with character, not a character playing QB. Newton is a circus waiting to happen.

He obviously didn't watch them play last year.

The bottom 10 slot was well earned.

If we were ever going to draft Romo's replacement, if all of the regular checks pan out fine, I would absolutely want Cam Newton sitting behind Romo learning. Imagine if this guy gets 3 to 4 good training camps under Garrett & Co. before being asked to become the face of the franchise?

He could be our Big Ben in the making, but with considerably more upside and more athleticism, and lack of raping young girls in bar bathrooms.

Ah ok. I thought it was in regards to the draft

Sadly....Jerry loves the spotlight and he loves players that would generate the interest of a Cam Newton.

Jerry...DON'T DO IT!

I have a bridge to sale too.

Pick a QB you believe who has upside from round 2 on out and develop him. Don't waste a top 10 pick on Gabbert/Newton.

my guess is they want a team that needs a QB to trade in front of us(thinking we want a QB) to take one pushing other players down to us

oh how very true

to bad tho besause we have Mangold as our center

instead of Bill Parcells pick B Carp

Personally, I'd have no problem if Cam was the pick.

4 to 5 years from now when he's ready to take over, he'd be a mix between Ben and Vick. Great QB.

Problem I would have though is how he reacts to sitting on the bench for 5 years. He has a bad attitude and probably cause some beef.

I would rather find our future now then the year we suck, though. (the draft following Romos retirement).

It did not work out, not necessarily, anyhow; if folks remember, we also took Spears with the 20th pick in that draft; guess what? Right, Rogers was STILL ON THE BOARD (he did not go until pick #24). In retrospect, we could have had Ware at #11 and Rogers at #20. Food for thought . . . . . . . .

Great point. Imagine Aaron Rodgers starting for us the past few years. You wonder what Jerrah was thinking in 2005 when Aaron Rodgers was still available at pick #20 especially after the amazing college career that Rodgers had at CAL. "As a junior in 2004, Rodgers led Cal to a 10–1 record and top-five ranking at the end of the regular season, with their only loss coming in a closely contested and well-played game at #1 USC, 17–23. In that game, Rodgers set a school record for consecutive completed passes with 26 and tied an NCAA record with 23 consecutive passes completed in one game. Rodgers set a school single game record for passing completion, completing 85.3% of his passes in that game. Rodgers also holds the school career record for lowest percentage of passes intercepted at 1.95%." Jeez...was he great or what!!!! He's been great throwing the rock with the SAME accuracy and crazy yardage since becoming the starter at Green Bay. Jerrah....the TAPE didn't lie...you and your coaching staff should have pulled the trigger on this guy. Now, you're finally talking about nabbing a QB in this year's draft to develop him behind Tony Romo. Many fans are wondering whether this is only a smoke screen in order to nab someone else. If not, it sounds like Jason Garrett is behind this strategic plan for the future. If true, it's about time we have someone who can SEE the big picture. Not saying Cam Newton is the best pure QB available but he's a VERY VERY intriguing prospect and should have a good career in the NFL if he's not injured severely early in his career running the ball against the big, fast, tough, and nasty defensive players that make up today's NFL defenses.
