Boston College at Florida State

13 clubs attending: Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers.

Details: Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2)

Three top players: Boston College (S John Johnson, LB Matt Milano, DE Harold Landry); FSU (RB Dalvin Cook, OT Roderick Johnson, WR Travis Rudolph).

Matchup to watch: Boston College OLB Matt Milano vs. FSU RB Dalvin Cook. Milano is a hybrid who used to play safety, and he's a disruptive presence from his strong-side position. FSU's offensive line hasn't had much luck handling smaller, quicker defenders, so don't be surprised to see Milano meeting Cook in the backfield more than once. Milano should also have some contain responsibility on Cook's carries outside the tackles. Also worth watching: Cook-Milano clashes in pass protection; Milano has five sacks

I think there's a strong they're there to see Travis Rudolph; a likely 3rd-4th round prospect with a high ceiling to develop into a solid #2.

Harold Landry, DE, Boston College: Landry is tied for third in the FBS with 11 sacks. The 6-6, 260-pounder used his power and speed to win consistently against Florida State right tackle Brock Ruble on Friday night. He also shed Ruble's blocks consistently when playing the run. Landry came on a bit in 2015, but has taken his overall game to a new level at Chestnut Hill. We didn't get to see Landry take on left tackle Roderick Johnson on Friday, but he's had sacks in seven of the team's 10 games this year -- this wasn't a one-off performance. Presenting NFL scouts with a combination of hustle, strength and agility makes him one of the best strong-side defensive end prospects in the country.

Drafting this kid would allow Dallas to move 2 people back to where they belong - T. Crawford back to 3T (he looks too slow and unathletic at LDE/SDE) and Tank back to LDE/SDE from the RDE spot. He thrived on that left side last year. Landry LOOKS & PLAYS like a RDE - he looks fast and fluid whereas Tank does not since he looks like he's gained 20lbs. since he got to Dallas. Look at Seattle's DLine:

RDE - Cliff Avril 6'3", 260, Damontre Moore 6'4.5", 260
LDE - Michael Bennett 6'3.5", 275, 6'3", 270

I want a BLAZER coming off that RDE slot.

I seriously hope there are some quality Defensive options available when Dallas is on the clock, but worry that at this rate their record will take the elite options off the table come draft day.

Actually, the late 1st round is typically always a good spot to be in as usually one or two top prospects with character or injury concerns drops to those spots.

There are plenty of good players in the top 3-4 rounds of the draft--with no character or huge injury concerns... without getting cute.

What you are saying sounds a lot like Jerry's formula for round 2 over the past five years. That's turned out to be a mess.

Jerry loves the character/injury concerns. It's like turkey and Thanksgiving when it comes to his second round selections.

What can't you compute?

I'm not advocating it one way or the other, just stating the reality that it happens annually every draft.
