I was a posed a question in another thread that reminded me that it might be time to share this little tidbit.

I spoke to Rich Behm recently who I have known for over 25 years and was able to compile a list along with the one I have been putting together over the course of this last season of game that the Cowboys scouting dept attended. It's hard to say exactly who they were there to scout or what they came away with it's fun to speculate and often can give a little insight into who they may be looking at.

I think for the NO-name schools, you have to look at guys with size.

DL 6-4 to 6-6 280lbs to 300lbs. Jason Hatcher rings a bell to me.

Or a Patrick Crayton type player.

Nov 6th Gannon vs Slippery Rock

This game is very interesting for me.

Slippery Rock Center Brandon Fusco.

6-5 305.

4 Year starter at Center.

DII Lineman of the Year this year.

SDOGO,

I have a question for you. Do you know if the Cowboys scouting department has looked at Will Rackley - OT from Lehigh University? I actually know him on a personal level (wasn't best friends with him, but went to school with him for 3 years, hung out at his fraternity nearly every weekend, and actually worked out with him on one occasion). He's a 1-AA All-American (2 years running), a freak of nature in the gym (I could tell you amazing stories about him in the gym), a nasty player on the field (a great, soft spoking guy off the field, but an ANGRY MOFO on the field), he's tough as nails (played through a very painful ankle injury all season...an injury that many players would have missed significant time for) and a type of player you'd never have to motivate (self-motivated...a type of player who's the first to arrive to gym/practice and the last to leave), and most importantly, he's an extremely responsible person (you won't be seeing him getting DUI's, partying during the season, getting into fights, etc).

I would love for the Cowboys to draft him (3rd-5th round area). Put him in an NFL weight-training program and this man will be an absolute monster in no-time. The man had NFL caliber strength as a College Freshman -- that reminds me of a story: during my undergrad years at Lehigh, I worked at my school's gym. One day, after Will's Freshman season was over, I was working out with one of his team mates (a WR) who was dead lifting around 350 lbs (somewhere around there, don't exactly remember). Then, out of no-where, Will walks in. This was right after class and he was wearing flip-flops, mind you. Will, without warming up or saying anything to anybody, takes the 350 lb bar (still in his flip flops) and did about 13 or 14 hang cleans (and he looked like he could have done a few more). That was during his freshman season when he was probably only around 280 or so. lol

Sorry for the long rant, but any info would be appreciated.

I dont know if the Cowboys have scouted him at all but I'm very familiar with his body of work. Small school East Scouting has been where I have focused for the last couple years. He has been impressive from day 1 and was the 1st freshman OL to start at Lehigh in 20 something years. As with any small school prospect his level of competition will be a concern for most NFL teams but anyone who watches him will see he was a man among boys. He will need some time to be coached up but has all the physical attributes needed to be successful in the NFL.

He can play either OG or OT and I think his natural position in the NFL will be at OG. I dont have a measurement but it seems he may lose some stock due to shorter arms then teams look for in a OT.

I know he's not flying under the radar. I recently contacted Brett Sawyer to get some game film and said that more then a dozen NFL teams have either visited him or requested information in the last month or so.

SDogo, just peeped your draft blog, good stuff.

eh, it's a work in progress. I picked a horrible time to try and start it up but I'm working on bigger things for next year and need to get back into the groove but it does not pay the bills so it has to wait till I have time.

I'm going to the SR Bowl this year again so I hope to provide some live updates on my blog and get it rolling a little faster.

Thanks for the props though.

Well, IMO, it at least looks the part, obviously it will be better when you add some more content as we get closer to the draft.

I've seen some websites that look like they were done by a 12-year old with everything written in comic serif font, et cetera.

The list is interesting, but I'm sure it's only a portion of the games our scouts attended. We have seven college scouts, so we should be attending AT LEAST seven colleges games every Saturday (possibly more if any guys are able to double up), not to mention most of the mid-week games.

No doubt, that's why I said it was by no means a complete list.

I did a quick scan of the games, and I didn't see any Appalachian State games. I might of missed it cause again, I did a quick scan. But have you heard anything on that kid you've been pimping, LeGree? Have our scouts been looking at him? His production is nuts this year considering he played 5 games. Don't know why he isn't more touted then he is, regardless of where he plays.

They were never brought up and trust me, I was looking.

Ryan Jones has been my small school sleeper pet cat for the last few months.

The guy has 20+ INTs for his college career.....he is by definition, a ballhawk, something we desperately need. If Sensabaugh can put together an entire season the way he did in the final 8, and we add a player like LeGree.....our secondary should get so much better.
