Anyone who thinks rap is music is a dope.
Country music is at least MUSIC. Not much more to be said for it though.

put Canibus' "100 Bars", 4 minutes rapping with no breath, how he's telling you how he's the s***, untouchable, how he'll kill you, on a defensive player's highlight reel, oowhee

You're completely ignorant. Nice to know someone who has probably never listened to a hip-hop album can already conclude that the entire genre is inferior.

KD, how old are you dude? I love all kinds of different hip-hop, but 50 Cent? A 12 year old could write his lyrics.

Common is a joke? Explain that one to me, please. Do you consider 50 Cent more talented than Common?

And you're just hurting yourself by not giving A Tribe Called Quest a chance... one of the very best hip-hop groups ever.

Get with the program, young blood. It's not too late!

More homework for ya...

Nas - "Illmatic"

GZA - "Liquid Swords"

Masta Ace - "Disposable Arts"

Study hard, there's gonna be a test. :)

I listen to rap occasionally.

Nas' Illmatic is one of the best albums.
50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' isn't.

If all you want is beats; then yeah...50 works.
If you want actual lyrics, Eminem's older stuff, Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, 36 Chambers, Chronic etc are better.

Mostly though; I listen to classic rock (Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Eagles, CCR, Styx, etc)

Welllllllll...rap IS total garbage but I don't listen to country. ;)
I listen to most anything. It's all preference.

The same can be said for any style of music that doesn't get your head bobbing. But I wouldn't diss another genre in the process, just because it doesn't.

There are different types of artists within hip-hop so calling the entire industry garbage is not entirely correct. There are different style of rock artists and different styles of country and pop artists. And you can find garbage within any of them. Ashley Simpson anyone? :)

Current rap music is mind numbing idiocy. Go back to the mid 1990's for real rap, when it was actually about the real world and real events, not about the imaginary hip-hop/thug world all the "gangstas" want you to imagine these days.

Replace "current rap music" with "current MAINSTREAM rap music", and I'll agree with you 100%. Like WoodysGirl pointed out, there's garbage in all genres. But there's so many different "types" of hip-hop that it's impossible to say it's ALL one thing or another.

Hip hop and rap do not have to be one and the same. There is a a lot of quote "hip hop" music that is not classified as rap.

Usher comes to mind. Much of his music I wouldnt call "rap", but it is definatly hip hop.

Usher is an R & B singer who incorporates the hip-hop sound into his music. But ultimately, he's a singer and no one would dare think otherwise.

I am not a fan of Rap music, but my roommate in the Army listened to Tupac and Big E Small I am open minded enough to say that it wasn't bad. I liked Eminem a bit. In fact, I considered buying his greatest hits album. Otherwise, I would rather listen to other stuff.

I'll give 50 this though, at least he was actually thuggin' it, got shot 9 times in the process

he has this one song, go back to his earlier days before he was shot, he actually had some tight music back then

Murda Muzik's okay, but I think it's only their 3rd best album... "The Infamous" and "Hell On Earth" being their top 2.

The best MC discussion begins and ends with Chuck D IMO
