Cowboys Should Extend Romo Now

Top 5 QB contracts are really high. Romo's value really jumped. If he leads the team on a deep run then he can write his own contract.

For some stupid reason, I don't think that Romo is really in this game for the money...

Is he worth it? Hell yes!

But, I would bet that Romo would not be the kind of person to hold out like scar face did. I think Romo just loves to play the game, plus, he already has enough money for the rest of his life and his kid's lives.

;)

I can see Romo giving us a hometown discount. There were rumors about Brees not willing to give an inch two years ago when it was apparent he was going to get a big payday. Brees is a good guy, but he loves his money. I don't see Romo acting the same way.

Hometown discount? That would be if he played in Green Bay. I don't see Romo accepting less money to stay here, but I feel he would give Dallas every chance to match the top offer. I feel the Boys will pay what it takes to keep Romo. If they want to continue implementing this system, they can't afford to lose him.

I've always thought so too, but was afraid to suggest it. What're we thinkin'... 6'4, 6'5 maybe? *BA DUM tsss* Sorry.

Seriously, though, if... when Tony wins a Super Bowl, the money goes through the roof, naturally. Think the Cowboys should extend his contract, ASAP. Bet Stephen and Jerry will be monitoring that situation very closely.

I love Romo but he isn't Brees. Sorry, but he's just not. Romo will be 35 the next time he is up for a new contract, if he asks for $20+ million a year at that age then he can walk.

let Romo play out the last two years of his contract and then say goodbye...he'll be going on 35, extending a big deal now for an aging quarterback will turn out to be another in a long line of Jerry Jones overpaying for age mistakes... above 32 year old quarterbacks don't lead teams to Superbowls in todays NFL especially Quarterbacks that aren't top five quarterbacks, and Romo isn't a top five quarterback..

I see it's not just me who sees this as a problem.

So I'm not crazy

I agree with that.

Brees is top-3.

Romo is a few notches down from that.

And considering that the cap isn't going up (far) over the next few seasons, I would have to think committing that kind of cap space to one player is a massive roll of the dice.

Question For those of you who say do not pay Romo

Let's say Romo keeps at the status quo-same type of production. Team gets better and we win a super bowl.

Now do you pay him 20 mil per season? Or is it still a bad idea?

Maybe that's why they should extend his contract now?

Not 20 mil a year, but something manageable...and I bet Tony would go for it.

Didn't he already work out his current contract so the Cowboys could sign another player or two?

sure..invest a bunch more money in him.

but at the end of the day without a good o-line that money is better off in the garbage, considering he aint gettin any younger

I like Romo and think he is a good QB but he's no Brees. Brees has proven that he can handle the pressure during crunch time, Romo, not so much.

Dallas is pretty much his hometown now. He's very established in the community. He just had his kid here. His wife is from here. Plus the city has some of the best golf in the country. j/k :D
