It is my understanding that if the Cowboys use the non-exclusive franchise tag on Tank that he could negotiate an offer sheet with other teams and the Cowboys could match it, or let him walk for two first round picks.
I think that's a win-win scenario for the Cowboys. If you can ET two first round picks for Tank you do it, unless his market is lower than he thinks it is and the Cowboys decide to match it.
The Cowboys could be bidding against themselves here if Tank over estimates his market value.
I would personally take the picks. You would end up with 10 player years of cheap labor and it would be a great benefi to the team. We have done very well drafting over the past few years other than Taco, and the verdict is still out on him.
Plus Tank has injury and suspension concerns. That's a no brainer once you consider that he has tailed off every season.
