Cowboys show again that only perfect game will beat them
http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/...-that-only-perfect-performance-will-beat-them

MINNEAPOLIS -- Context is everything, in football and in life, and so it was fascinating Thursday night to hear two entirely different perspectives on the events at U.S. Bank Stadium.

In the winning team's locker room, the Dallas Cowboys were celebrating the return of their defense and the emerging grittiness of their competitive spirit.

"We were able to execute our game plan perfectly," Cowboys safety Barry Church said. "Once we got them bogged down, we had them."

In the losing team's locker room, the Minnesota Vikings were lamenting another punchless offensive performance and suggesting the outcome would have been different were it not for any one of a series of errors.

"That was a game we should have won," Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen said. "We fought and it was self-inflicted."

So which was it? Did the Cowboys take another step on their march to the Super Bowl in a 17-15 victory over the Vikings? Or were they simply fortunate to have faced a flawed team that was playing without the head coach, offensive coordinator, quarterback, running back and offensive tackles with which it opened training camp?...

It's just not true.

Any given day, any team can/will beat another team. Perfection will have nothing to do with it.

More.... "luck"... "ball bouncing"...Their way

Dallas isn't flawless or unbeatable but either is any other team in the league. I love how resilient they are and even when things weren't going their way they still found a way to win. I love this team and the confidence they have in themselves and each other.

Minnesota was bad on offense yesterday, yet they marched down at the end of the game and scored a TD on us, if they converted the 2 pt conversion who knows what happens we probably go to OT they could win the toss and score another TD and beat us. It does not take perfection.

So which was it?

Hard to be "fortunate" every week. So "fortunate" has nothing to do with what we are witnessing. When you've won 11 in a row, at some point, people need to start calling you an "Elite Team". One that is just extremely hard to beat.

We past that point about 3 or 4 wins ago. Not sure why people aren't seeing it. Or maybe they are seeing it. Just unwilling to pull out the anointing oil because of the politics.

Must be a Cowboys thing.

We're a great team but I don't think it takes a perfect game to beat us, that's all. It's not like we're whooping teams by 25 points a game. There's been an onside kick involved in our last two games which means those teams had a chance to win.

We're definitely finishing games this year in general.

Though I'd say that the turnovers, penalties, and especially the bobbled snap when the offense was in position to put the game away suggested a bit differently last night. I'll take it, though.

We can say the same thing except. "That was a game that we won even though we had a lot of self-inflicted problems" Fumbles, penalties, mistakes.....

would of, could of, should of but you didn't you got the L. How many times are teams going to say this against us this year? They should get over themselves.

Everyone has amnesia about the past. we think every Super Bowl team was a juggernaut. Forgotten are all the "breaks", "lucky" bounces, fortunate calls, and mistakes by opponents that contributed to victories.

Brees required a pick 6 when the other team was driving for the winning TD to get his ring. Brady has had too many crazy things happen in their super bowl runs to even chronicle. Even our beloved early 90s teams had their share of close calls.

We're 11-1. Drink it in

All that was needed was for there be a recollection of just last season, when absolutely nothing went with a ball bouncing in the direction of the Cowboys.

Last night should be a wake up call. Dak looked vincible last nite. I was particularly troubled by the inability to attack that blitz. I hope they work on those quick routes esp the slants. He threw the ball behind them however TBF he had that dble A gap blitz most of the night. I don't think the staff reacted fast enough to that safety trail on Elliott or the corner blitz by the safeties either.

That was a very good game plan by the Min D and not just all individual talent although the DEs are pretty good.

What killed me last night was the obvious agenda by the refs to keep the game close. Every time we had a big play, it was called back due to some phantom penalty: 42 yard run, INT, etc, etc. It was a bad joke. We not only had to deal with the Vikings but had to fight the refs as well.

I've never seen such an agenda by the referees before last night's game.

I saw a Dallas team that put themselves in way too many 3rd and longs. The Vikings had nothing to do with that. I also saw bologna flags thrown on Dallas. And flags not thrown when they should have. That had nothing to do with the Vikings either.

Dallas won by a little but should have blown the Vikings out had they not beat themselves on so many drives.

The Vikings have no offense. That has been an all year issue for them. That's what their offense is. And it was no different last night. Had the Cowboys been hitting on all cylinders like they have on offense all year and not hurting themselves, it wouldn't have been 17-15. It would have been 42-15.
